Lily: Mommmmmmmmmmmmy!!!! Ben is repeating me!
Me: So, stop talking.
{Insert scowl and three seconds.}
Lily: Mommmmmmy!!! Ben is still repeating me.
Me: Aren’t you not talking? How is he repeating you?
Lily: He’s not talking either! I can’t stand my brother.

Oh my does that conversation sounds familiar. I feel like I break up like 10 fights a day with my kids. I try so hard to keep them busy and to be nice to each other. But I swear they always want what the other has and always find SOMETHING to fight about.
But when they are nice and sweet to each other they are the cutest! So I guess that makes up for it.

“She’s touching me.” “He’s looking at me.” “Stop talking to me.” That’s the sounds of “joy” I hear all. day. long.

When my children get along, it is a beautiful thing. Then my son will remember that “little sisters are annoying” and the fights begin! The worst is in the car. The second their butts hit the seats and the seat belts click shut the fighting goes into high gear. I swear, it’s an absolute miracle that we haven’t crashed yet with all that distraction!

Four year old son: mom my package won’t stay up
Mom: Well honey it should stay down most of the day.
Son: But mom I want it to stay up all day.
Mom: Talk to your dad about your package, I don’t have one.
*add child’s excitement and amazement as he grabs the phone out of my hand*
MOMS OF SONs HELP ME!!!
Son: Dad my package is magic, it goes up all by it’s self!
*snort* That is perfect sibling rivalry!
On a long road trip my oldest complained from the backseat of the car that her little brother was ‘breathing her air.’ I was so glad when they outgrew that… I think they’ve outgrown it.

I wonder when this stops. I think it is crazy how they go from loving and playing each other one minute to fighting the next.

Hahahaha. Yup, that sounds somewhat like my house.
Mine goes something like this…….
“mom, Jax wont stop licking me”!
“well, Riley wont take his legs off of me”
“so move away from your brother”
Then they both tell me NO!
Happy Easter and have a wonderful day!

At least they’re willing to share the same swing. (And perhaps repeat each other while swinging??)

My children are obsessed with each other in that sweet sibling way…
“Give me that! No wait? Where are you going? Don’t leave. Stay BUT GIVE ME THAT.”
I love it! (when it doesn’t get on my nerves)

Hmmm… Thinking of paying my son to start repeating his sister if it will keep them both quiet for a while.
Gorgeous picture!

Ah, that sounds very familiar. I crack up at the copying thing. I try to explain to my girl that it’s a form of flattery, but she is so not buying it. 3 years later and she still thinks we can send her little brothers back.

Ha ha. The cross we bear as the older sister to boys. My brother used to stare at close-range during car rides. The silent staring made me consider homicide. And my parents never ‘got’ it.

I hear ya. In the past two days, my five-year-old son has told me he wanted to sell his twins sister. His face is all serious.

Love a) the picture and b) the post!
That is classic. Although I too am wondering if paying my son to repeat my daughter would quiet them both down.

Add me to the list of those that hear this convo every day! And then the next minute they’re laughing together like loons. We also get the, “But he got more air than me! It’s not fair!” type of competitiveness. Like, when my daughter threw up at the outlet mall, she wouldn’t leave until she got a new pair of shoes. Why? Because her brother got some!!

As an only child, I just can’t relate to the stupid things my boys fight about especially when I’m driving. My husband is the oldest of five and swears it’s perfectly normal. I don’t find it all that reassuring, especially when I’m shrieking “Don’t make me stop this car!”

I have one son who is younger than one sister, and older than three. They mostly drive him crazy!
Oh that is PRICELESS! I wish I had been able to give Princess Nagger siblings, but alas, that wasn’t in the cards. I have trouble explaining to hubby, who was an only child, the dynamics of siblings. He never seems to get it. ;)

LOL.
Hey when we started that as kids, my moms response was always
“Take it outside. I’ve already heard it.”
She meant it too. She meant we better take it outside or she’d give
us tons of chores to do where each kid (all five of us) were in different
rooms of the house.
My brother was really good at picking on us, but who could blame him,
with four sisters I mean he was out numbered. Especially when it came
to the bathroom. Five kids sharing one bathroom, yikes.
Jill, I wonder if that sounded just like conversations between you and Matt.
Cute.
My second is still only 10 months, but that hasn’t stopped the “Mom! He wont stop touching my things/ following me/ trying to eat my hair!”
I cannot wait until there’s two voices yelling about their little discrepancies.
Found you on Sits!
Hee, hee. Gotta love siblings. This brings back memories of me and my sisters last week. Uh, I mean growing up.

This is too funny! No only does it bring back memories for me and my childhood, but it is what I see in my own children…
I have 4 year old and 2 year old boys that can love one another one minute and hate each other the next. I don’t get it…I have 3 siblings but my brothers are 13, 15 and 17 years older then me so I never got to fight with my brothers. At times my hubby and I have to turn the other way from laughing so hard. We think at some point the 2 yr old will knock out the 4 yr old. Fun times, fun times!!!

Ah, those conversations will not go on in my home since my kid will be an only child…NO MORE for me! NO way! NOPE NOPE NOPE
I am President of the One and Done club. ;o)
Well, that is unless my son starts accusing our golden retriever of repeating him. LOL!

Seriously…I’m really starting to doubt the fact that I ever wanted more than one child. Is it going to take 20 freaking years before the siblings can actually GET ALONG and STOP BUGGING ME WHEN THEY DON’T?!
Help!
