In honor of the new movie Motherhood, a unique movie about a real mom, I’m looking for some other Scary Mommies out there.
What is a Scary Mommy, you ask? I believe a Scary Mommy is a mother who doesn’t leave the house wearing lipstick at all times. A Scary Mommy loves her kids to death, but will admit to feeling totally overwhelmed and exhausted by the gig. A Scary Mommy doesn’t really care what other people think, and a Scary Mommy thinks that all mothers win when we admit our weaknesses. How would you describe it? It’s up to you!
Are you a Scary Mommy too? Write a post on your own blog referring to this post and come back and link it up here by Thursday. On Friday, October 23, I will choose the mom who is the most convincing of their Scary Mommy status. Have your readers vouch for you in the comments section, I’ll take that into consideration when making my choice.
The winner’s blog entry will appear on my blog and on Eliza’s blog as a guest post linking back to their own site. The winner will also receive… Are you ready for this? A Flip video camera.
Do you have a Flip? I adore mine. It’s so light that it stays in my purse at all times, allowing me to capture moments that I never would have before. It plugs directly into the computer and couldn’t be easier to use. I use mine all the time. You will love it.

I am the scariest mommy of all because I am too lazy and exhausted to do this, I once walked out of my house without lipstick AND IN MY BRA (I was very, very exhausted), and I don’t care what you think. :)

Okay, not taking your kid to the doctor for two weeks when they have a broken arm is pretty scary! Of course, if said kid is like mine, they have whined so much previously that you just assume that they are making something out of nothing.

Okay, I’m not eligible since I currently live in Moscow, so I’ll just tell you that once, when I lived in Slovakia, one of my kids was complaining about her ear. We had to go to the vet that day . . . do you see where this is going? Dr. Dagmar was (is) also a mom . . . she had the ear-viewer tool . . . so I asked, “Would you look in my kid’s ear and tell me if I should take her to the pediatrician?”
She didn’t bat an eye. She looked in the ear and said, “I wouldn’t take her. It looks good.”
So now my children like to tell people that “Once our mom took us to THE VET!”

in my opinion the BEST mommies are the scary mommies…at least the mommies who are transparent enough to admit that tthey are not so perfect. I have been a scary mommy since 1986 and since my youngest is only 7 I will be a scary mommy for many more years to come.

This was such a great post to write! Being able to write about things like this, helps me understand myself, and any internal, mom conflicts I may feel, so not only is it fun, but it’s also therapeutic. Again, I loved it!
