Who stole the cookies from the cookie jar?

For years, I have had an enamel bread box in which I keep all of the food I want to remain out of the eye-shot of my children. What they can’t see, they don’t want and the Twizzlers, cookies, marshmallows and other crap remain untouched. Never have they thought to grab a chair, push it over and make themselves at home with the goodies the box holds.

Never, that is, until… the third child came along:

Oh, the things he’s bound to teach them…

WOW! What is it about #3? Mine can not be trusted. In his 17 months of life, he’s already learned things that have taken them years to accomplish. It’s kinda amazing, really.

2 Scary Mommy June 19, 2009 at 7:21 am

It really is amazing. He has figured out how to put things in the microwave and cook them, turn on the sink and soak the kitchen and break 4 bowls in 3 seconds. He’s going to give me a heart attack.

3 Lady Mama June 18, 2009 at 10:04 pm

Never mind the cookies look at those eyes! Oh mama you’re in for trouble when he gets older.

See how dumb we mommies can be. My #2 is doing stuff at 2 that her older brother didn’t figure out at 4.

He is so freakin cute!!! Since he’s #3…. he’s got to do something to “standout” from his big bro and sis.

7 Schmoochiepoo June 18, 2009 at 10:37 pm

Oh goodness he is adorable!!

You’re going to have to find a new hiding spot. :)

8 AJ @ A Little Bit Nutty June 18, 2009 at 10:38 pm

My #3 is the same way. He can sniff anything out. No one can hide anything from him. He even finds big sisters stash. Which is not fun!

9 Rhea June 18, 2009 at 10:50 pm

Adorable little diapered butt. Little stinker.

10 OHmommy June 18, 2009 at 11:17 pm

Lets make sure that your 3rd child and my 3rd child NEVER meet. Okay? We have started calling her trouble with a capital T. LOL.

We all call with Trouble Maker more than his actual name. He is such a little devil. He’s lucky he’s cute.

12 Dani Webb June 18, 2009 at 11:23 pm

Question: can you help me understand Flashback Friday? I don’t get it. (Not stupid. In fact rather smart. :) Just NEW!!) :)

Thank ya dear!

Well here’s to NOT having a third child…my number two is way too naughty – she’s already demanded sweeties today and it’s only 9.30 in the morning. I think a third child would en me over the edge!

18 Jennifer June 19, 2009 at 7:15 am

But he’s just so stinkin’ cute. The real question is, did he get in trouble? LOL

20 Lynn from For Love or Funny June 19, 2009 at 7:16 am

Wait a second! He’s the cutie in the sailor bathing suit! He’s allowed to steal a goodie, ’cause he’s just so darn cute.

okay, he is officially the CUTEST THING EVER.

22 Ri June 19, 2009 at 7:54 am

Cookies, schmookies – one bat of those mile long lashes at me and I’d hand that kid the car keys, the checkbook and a year’s supply of Twizzlers…whatever he wants.
I am amazed that you can function, really – with all the cute going on in your house, I’d be a melted puddle of Mama-Mush!

Oh, Stella is SO like that. She finds ways to do things that Sarah never even dreamed of doing.

To be fair, though, they are so cute with that naughty smile – “I know I’m not supposed to do this, but I look so cute, don’t I?” :-)

God that kid is smart. He is only going to get more mischievous (and knowing him, cuter).

27 Ronda's Rants June 19, 2009 at 8:53 am

Looks and Smarts…God help you when he becomes a teenager! :)
Look out ladies!

28 Loukia June 19, 2009 at 9:09 am

Ah, such cuteness! Look at those adorable legs! I can’t get enough of babies and at that age, they’re just such perfection! My baby boy is totally freaking me out with all the climbing he’s doing, and he lack of fear is really worrying me! He has way less fear in him than his older brother, that’s for sure! I’m scared to have a third – would he/she be even more daring? ;)

I am so there with you, but with my 2nd. My daughter has yet to reach that stage. Hopefully, there’s nothing to the saying that every kid is worse than the one before because O M G I may just have to run away if that’s the case.

Already posted yesterday: http://tinyurl.com/lulopy.

I’m very familiar with children dragging chairs up to counters, emptying cabinets and knowing where ALL the treats are. We always joke about “this being able to reach things now is really annoying – enough with the growing already!”
