Throughout her adult life, Melissa has worked in the behavioral health field in cities such as Phoenix, Wickenburg, Glendale, Scottsdale, and Flagstaff, Arizona. With her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and her Master’s Degree in Community Counseling, she worked as a Licensed Professional Counselor in inpatient, residential, school, nonprofit, and intensive outpatient treatment settings. A native Phoenician, she moved with her husband Tyler to Flagstaff in 2008, where she opened a private practice, mostly specializing in eating disorders. Melissa and Tyler have two boys, Nolan (age 7) and Landon (age 5), who propelled her into a career change. She felt fortunate to be able to stay home with them, and presently works a few hours a week as a counselor at a local elementary school. Melissa has always loved writing and is a regular contributor for Flagstaff Moms Blog, as well as dabbling in freelance work. She is passionate about learning about and supporting other women, especially in their journeys of motherhood, relationships, and finding themselves.
