Harlem is a neighborhood in the borough of Manhattan, settled by the Dutch, which has long been considered the cultural heart of Black America (during the 1920s, the Harlem Renaissance brought about a rebirth of African-American art, music, and literature). Using it would be a cool way to pay homage to those cultural roots … and when your little Harlem makes a crayon drawing on the wall, you can just say it’s an expression of the name’s origin.
Famous people named Harlem:
Son of rapper "Game," Harlem Caron Taylor.
Originally the Dutch-settled city of Haarlem, the British tried to change the name to Lancaster in the late 1600s.
