If you’re a parent in 2018, chances are your kids “watch TV” a bit differently than we did. Or even compared to kids 10 years ago did. Back then, our 5-year-olds were still loving Disney Junior, but now? It’s YouTube all the way. So yeah, our kids’ Santa lists are drastically impacted by Ryan’s World and JoJo and other similar internet stars. So if you’re in our boat and the screens in your house are dominated by all things YouTube, here are a few things your kids might like to see under the tree this year.
I know—this giant mystery egg is obnoxiously huge and a little ridiculous. But you know your kids will squeal when they see this surprise that is the unboxing of all unboxings. (Just don’t forget to record their reaction to upload later!)
Another big Ryan’s World hit is this blaster that shoots slime. Why would you subject yourself and your home to this horror? Because you love your kids and sometimes we parents do weird things in the name of love.
3. Squishy Toys
If there’s anything the 2018 kid loves, it’s a squishy toy. No one knows why, but we can likely attribute this interest to kids on YouTube. (This one is scented and is said to relieve stress, so maybe Mom needs one in her stocking too.)
This book may be the only way you can get your kids to actually turn off YouTube and read something. It’s a win-win.
5. JoJo Doll
If your kids watch YouTube, they know (and likely love) this star. The JoJo doll has the obligatory giant bow, and a purse with a bow, but most importantly, is holding a phone on a selfie stick. What a time to be alive.
Does your child want to be the next Boomerang-singing overly energetic YouTube star? With this kit by Cool Maker, they can make their own JoJo bows for their hair (and hopefully stay out of yours for a while). And now they’re well on their way to being millionaires.
Kids love tiny toys (even if their parents don’t) and another unboxing/tiny treasures fave is the Lost Kitties blind box. This one comes with kitties, accessories, shaping compound, and stickers.
In the end, some of the best YouTube videos (according to our kids and they’re experts) are “epic” nerf gun wars. A nerf gun like the RaptorStrike is a great gift for the YouTube lover in your life.
9. Water Guns (that are equally epic)
And once the nerf guns are played out, your kids can switch to water guns like this XURU X-Shot water blaster for another history-making battle as they “shoot” for YouTube fame.
Kids love YouTube videos where kids hide in forts and engage in hour-long nerf gun battles. These giant foam blocks scream “Build a fort with me!” and are the perfect gift for all ages.
For the tween or teen who is full-force on the YouTube streaming train, they need the coolest video game system—it’s just reality, parents, so get ready to accept it (and open your wallet). PlayStation 4 is that system.
And Fortnite is that game (or at least one them) that you can go ahead and order with your PS4 so that your kid can head into the gaming/YouTube world and not emerge until they’re hungry or dehydrated.
And no real YouTuber can make epic viral videos without a solid stand for their recording device. This tripod allows your little star to set up their phone, hit record, and make internet magic.
Hopefully this list helps you out, parents of YouTube-obsessed kids. We know how much you LOVE hearing JoJo’s voice in the background while you’re cooking dinner, or hearing your kid whine about how unfair it is that they don’t have an endless stream of toys coming to your house to be unboxed. It’s just so much fun. So make sure to consider their love for YouTube when you holiday shop this year, or else you clearly don’t love your kids.
