Early on, Chasity’s sons learned to recognize when she had a migraine coming on. “One look and they knew I was struggling. They could see it on my face.” Her sons knew to be quiet and let mom rest as she fought the pain, and Chasity knew she was going to be sidelined for a while.

Chasity suffered with migraines since early adolescence, sometimes experiencing three or four “migraine attacks” a month. These attacks could last several days, sometimes weeks. The pain, pressure, and light sensitivity were excruciating—and missing out on time with her family made everything feel worse.

She Missed Out On So Much

There were times when Chasity, a dedicated sports mom, would have to ask neighbors to take her sons to their football practices and wrestling matches. There was one Fourth of July weekend that Chasity’s entire family spent boating on a lake while she was home alone with an icepack pressed against her forehead. “It was terrible all around. I felt awful, and they felt guilty having fun without me.”

There were plenty of meals when her husband and sons had to fend for themselves, and so many sick days at work that she lost vacation time. She worried that she would eventually lose her job.

Then there was the Thanksgiving when Chasity and her family drove twelve and a half hours to spend time with her son who is serving active duty in the military. The long car ride triggered a major migraine. As Chasity recalled, “I couldn’t wait to put my arms around him, and then I lost an entire day with him because I was in so much pain!”

Finally, She Found Relief

Working closely with her neurologist, Chasity tried a number of therapies. Some did not work well for her, and others had side effects that she couldn’t tolerate. But Chasity didn’t give up hope that she would find relief, “I used to be the type to suffer in silence, but that doesn’t get you anywhere. Now I advocate for myself. I kept asking my doctor, what can we try next?”

Her doctor prescribed Nurtec ODT, and Chasity found the pain relief she needed. Just one dose of Nurtec ODT can:

  • Dissolve pain

It’s a quick-dissolve tablet that can start working in minutes to eliminate pain

  • Get you back

It’s proven to get many people back to normal activities in as little as 1 hour

  • Last up to 48 hours

It can keep you functioning and free from migraine pain for up to 2 days

*In a study of people who took either Nurtec ODT (669 people) or placebo (682 people), more people taking Nurtec ODT experienced pain freedom and freedom from their most bothersome symptom (selected from light sensitivity, sound sensitivity, or nausea) at 2 hours vs placebo. Additionally, more people taking Nurtec ODT experienced freedom from functional disability and pain relief as early as 60 minutes vs placebo. These benefits were sustained through 48 hours for some people.

Chasity saw the difference right away, “I was amazed at how quickly it worked for me. Well it worked. Within 30 minutes I realized my migraine pain was going away, and I felt like myself again within the hour.” Not effective for all patients. Individual results may vary.

Nurtec ODT may cause serious side effects including allergic reactions, including trouble breathing and rash. This can happen days after you take Nurtec ODT. Call your HCP or get emergency help right away if you have swelling of the face, mouth, tongue, or throat or trouble breathing. This occurred in less than 1% of patients treated with Nurtec ODT.

A Suggestion For Other Moms

Chasity not only found the pain relief she needed, she also got back time with her family and that means the world to her. Her advice for other moms who suffer with migraines? “I know that moms usually tough it out—we don’t like to complain—but don’t downplay your symptoms. If what you’re doing now isn’t working, ask your doctor about Nurtec ODT. Maybe it can help you get your life back from migraine pain.”
