When you’re stuck in a traffic jam, what else is there to do?

If you aren’t embarrassing your kids every once in a while, are you really even a parent? If you’re a mom of a tween or teen, you know that can happen with very little effort, except that actually making the effort can be so much more fun for us. One mom went over and above in the embarrassment category, and though her son wasn’t amused, the rest of the world has been.

Wendy Chupp Gossett posted a video to her Facebook page, showing off her sweet sweet dance moves in the middle of the highway. Yes, I said the middle of a highway. But don’t worry, they’d been stuck for hours in a traffic jam — alas the need for a dance party. “This is what happens when you’re stuck for four hours on I 25,” Gossett wrote.

Gossett tells Fox 8 that she and her son, Nathan, had been stuck in traffic for over four hours and that her son was “totally stressed” and really hungry (because, teens), so she was trying to cheer him up. And what better way to cheer up a teen than to break into dance in the middle of the road to the Backstreet Boys.

Gossett can be seen doing the reverse running man, flailing her arms above her head as she weaves in and out of cars. Poor Nathan is caught on the video plugging his ears and likely hoping a sinkhole would open up and swallow the car whole. He does give a brief smirk towards the end, which is teen for “this is really funny but I don’t want to let on that I actually like you.”

The Colorado mom of two even caught the attention of one of the Backstreet Boys, Nick Carter. “OMG!! Get back in your car lol. Ps. Nice jam,” Carter tweeted.

Other people are extremely here for Gossett’s moves as well. Like Kevin Richardson, also an OG BSB member.

But really, what else is there to do in traffic?

Gossett certainly isn’t the first to embarrass her kid. There was the Jumbotron mom who busted some amazing moves during a timeout of the Maryland Terrapins and Loyola Greyhounds basketball game in 2018. And who can forget the mom at the Padres game over the summer who jammed out to Flo Rida’s 2008 hit “Low” when it came over the loudspeaker. Both moms were there with their teen sons, who looked equally as mortified as dear Nathan in the above video.

The thing is, we’re going to embarrass our kids just by existing. I was getting into the shower in my bathroom the other day and my 15-year-old daughter walked in demanding something, saw me and was all, “OMG, mother I’m going to be scarred for life.” Um, sorry I’m naked in my own shower? (And welcome to your body in 30 years.)

It’s clear Gossett is a great mom with a wicked sense of humor, which we all need if we’re going to raise these kids.
