Caught on Tape: Video shows pregnant woman hit alleged thief with her SUV

It’s no secret that pregnant women are tired, uncomfortable, and hormonal as hell. They’re growing eyeballs and brains, which is no easy task. And a video making the rounds today is the perfect example of why you should never, ever, mess with a pregnant lady.

A North Carolina woman, 26-year old Christine Braswell, was leaving the Walmart in Asheville when she caught a man rummaging through her SUV and trying to steal her purse. Dramatic video captured by WLOS shows the woman in her red SUV come up from behind the fleeing man and hit him in the back. She is currently five months pregnant.

Holy. Crap. She legit mowed him down.

“I came back out here, and he was with my purse and took off. I took off after him. Me being five months pregnant, I chased a little ways then came back, jumped in the car, threw it in gear and came across the curb and ran him over. I was not letting him get away with it. It’s not right. It’s not fair,” Braswell said.

One of the witnesses backs up her story saying he saw the man going through her car.

“When I walked out of Walmart he had her purse and was pulling all of her stuff out and me and my friend told him to put it down, what are you doing? She stopped and he ran off and she came up behind him and hit him with the car.”

Another witness recounts the moment the man was hit.

“She slammed on her brakes, crammed it in reverse and ran over the median there in between and hit him in the back. I mean she just, he was running, and she just flat hit him,” Janice Kelley said.

Paramedics were called and eventually took the alleged thief, identified as Robert Raines to a nearby hospital where he was treated for minor injuries. Police are charging Raines with breaking and entering, larceny, and damage to property according to WBTV.

Braswell is also being charged: she got slapped with misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon.

Obviously mowing down a person with a car is not OK if they’re not an immediate threat to your safety, pregnant or not. But sorry, criminal who just got mowed down by a pregnant lady — fate was not on your side today. You don’t fuck with a pregnant woman’s stuff. Clearly.

Sorry pregnant ladies, you don’t get free pass for committing crimes even when you’re feeling super ragey. But we’re not feeling too bad for this thief, either.

While the the outcome of this case plays out in the courts, we’re just wondering one thing: can you use pregnancy as a plea? One can dream.
