Juggling all of the responsibilities that you have as a mom is never easy. Add in the major disruptions caused by a global pandemic, along with a tendency to get debilitating migraines, and it can be tougher than ever to cope. Just ask Tomeka.

She explains, “Stress has always been a trigger for me. Whether it’s a deadline at work, my daughter’s college applications, or just my everyday responsibilities, stressful events can bring on a migraine.”

When migraines hit, her world stopped

When Tomeka felt a migraine coming on she would be overwhelmed with sadness knowing that anything she had planned—a family outing, yoga class, or dinner with friends—simply wasn’t going to happen. She would often be out of commission for two or three days, “I would curl up in a ball and not do anything. My family would check in on me but knew just to leave me alone in the dark in my bedroom.”

Tomeka felt her options were limited. She wasn’t comfortable taking medication and had a lifelong aversion to swallowing pills so she would just tough it out and miss out on a lot, too. “Even if we had already bought tickets for the aquarium or a baseball game, my family would realize that Mom is not going to make it. We are invited to a lot of charity events and my husband would have to cancel or go alone. We would RSVP for two, but only one would show up.”

One suggestion changed everything

Then a friend told her about Nurtec ODT. Nurtec ODT is the only quick-dissolve treatment for migraine attacks that can get you back to normal activities and last up to 48 hours–with just one dose. Tomeka’s doctor agreed that Nurtec ODT may be a good option, and wrote the prescription during their next appointment.

*In a study of people who took either Nurtec ODT (669 people) or placebo (682 people), more people taking Nurtec ODT experienced freedom from functional disability at 2 hours vs placebo. This benefit was sustained through 48 hours for some people.

Tomeka recalls the first time she took it, “I was nervous. I thought, there’s no way this one little tablet is going to make me feel better. But it did! You just put the tablet on or under your tongue and it dissolves in no time. You don’t even need water. And it doesn’t leave a bad taste in your mouth.” Not effective for all patients. Individual results may vary.

Today Tomeka keeps Nurtec ODT handy—in her purse, on her nightstand—in case she feels a migraine coming on. Once the pandemic is over, she looks forward to making social commitments that she can keep, “Now that I can get back to normal, I can’t wait for the world to be back to normal!”

Individual results may vary. To learn more, speak with your doctor and visit nurtec.com.
