Ever since I was presented with skittles vodka last weekend, my mind has been racing with thoughts of candy and vodka. How did I spent 4 years of college without knowing this genius combination? The two were major staples in my diet– why did I never think of combining them? It all seems so obvious! And so easy…
Take a cup of sugar candy.
Soak for two days in a Mason Jar filled with vodka.
And, behold: Candy flavored vodka.
It dresses up so pretty.
I’m thinking teacher’s holiday gifts right here.
The only problem is that I like making pretty things more than I like doing shots.
So… Who’s coming over for cocktails?

Vodka is my middle name. Well it’s not really but I’m Russian so it should be.
That is so cool! Too bad vodka and I don’t get alone. We had a huge falling out back in college and haven’t been on speaking terms ever since. :(

I happened to have those from Micheals, but if you have World Market, they have the best selection of bottles. And, Container Store and Ikea too.
Fabulous! And you don’t have to do shots with them – I’m sure they’d be great mixed with other stuff (like Sprite or flavored seltzer)!
Totally. That’s the funnest part.
Back in college, I always kept a dish of vodka (or rum!) gummi bears on hand. Yum!
Fill a dish with gummi bears.
Cover with vodka or rum.
Put in freezer overnight.
Enjoy! (Hint: I ate them with a spoon, since the bears sort of melt)
I’m coming … if you can wait for say, 8 more months!

I’m super curious to know how that candy corn one tastes! Think it would work with mellowcreme pumpkins?
It wasn’t my favorite, but I love the idea– it would be good in a Halloween Martini wit something else added. I did try marshmallows and they just didn’t dissolve. I had high hopes for that one, mixed with cream soda. Oh, well.
Last winter, we used a vanilla bean in one. Maybe that would help towards a marshmallow flavor?
Also using berries and the rinds from citrus fruits works really good too. They take a little while longer than the candy variety. I even used peppercorns and hot peppers to mix in Bloody Marys.
I have issues.

Disclaimer: I DO NOT WORK FOR THEM!
There is a brand of vodka called Pinnacle that I have had on occasion, however, it has just come to my attention that they have several flavored vodka’s including, drumroll please, whipped cream and cotton candy!!! Imagine the flavor combinations! Check it out people!
Ooh, I need to consider this for a 5:00 Fridays post. I infused vodka with peppers from my garden for my cocktail recipe today. Candy vodka is next on my list!
I’m a little behind on this post, but I did this in college! With Jolly Ranchers, though. So, we would buy a bag of Jolly Ranchers and a CHEAP ass bottle of vodka (or, someone of-age would anyway) and each person could have whatever flavor candy they put in. We also put the Jolly Ranchers in those drinks….what were they called… Zima?? It was a clear, fizzy, girly alcoholic beverage.

I tried the Skittle Vodka. Did not have much taste. How much candy do you use?
If you add simple syrup it turns it into a liquer. That way you can sip it instead of shoot it.
I’m currently making Sweedish Fish Vodka. Sweedish Fish Shots are absolutely my fav so I cannot wait to try this!!!
Beware, not all candies are good! I tried making sour patch kids vodka, only using the green ones because I wanted it green for St Patty’s Day. It created a beautiful hue, but the taste was horrid… If I come up with a bad infusion I always end up putting it into a jello shot and its perfect! :)

I made this with Now&Laters for my friend as a birthday gift. And it was a huge hit! Pulse with the candy being “soft” it only took a couple hours for it to dissolve!!!

Am trying this now. It looks like the candies need to be stirred to dissolve and flavor the vodka.
Do you keep the candy canes IN the vodka when you give
it to a friend or do you take it OUT before you package it up?
Is that a cup of candy to a pint or a quart jar? These look great. Oh the possibilities.
What a great idea! Where did you get the bottle that you have the lemon vodka in? It’s so cute & perfect for christmas gifts :)
Do you leave the candy in after soaking or take it out?
Can chocolate be used too?! What kind would you suggest is best?
I love this idea! I’m going to do it for my girl friends for christmas :) where did you get the bottle you used in the lemon head picture? also how big is the bottle/how much does it hold?
So, do you leave the candycanes in it after you leave them for 2 days?
Has anyone tried using rum with the candy canes?
Do you use soft peppermints or like the “hard candy” ones?
How do you write on the jars?
what kind of vodka did u start with?
Are there any recipes to go along with the candy and vodka? Or is it simply for shots? Any suggestions?
I want to know, too! :)
In Australia most bars searve these with lemonade.
Dont know if its available outside Aus but the best lolly to use are “redskins” Will blow your mind
I am wanting to make this, but my question is: I will be using 16 oz mason jars & I am wanting to know how many cups of candy do I need to use? It will be a gift & I want to make sure it taste good. Thank you in advance.

Your projects are SO CUTE! …. My recent one is crafty and useful, thought I don’t have pictures, sorry!
Warm Apple Pie**
**(My version, much higher ABV than most recipes on the internet)
32 oz apple juice
32 oz apple cider
8 cinnamon sticks
2 cups brown sugar
2 bottles (est 50 oz./ 1500ml) 190 proof grain alcohol
Result: Est 45% ABV/ 90 Proof Alcohol
Boil juice, cider, cinnamon sticks for about 20 mins, stire in sugar. Let cool completely (first on counter, then covered in fridge), then add everclear.
Made three (3) 32oz bottles- two to friends, one to age in cupboard.
We used Ikea “EZ-Cap” 32oz bottles (4$/ea), and for decoration, we added wire ribbon “lipstick” – the pattern of classic picnic red/white cloth, and a product description tag attached with thin twine. They came out VERY nice.
Due to the bottles being so large, I might put them in 1/2 pint (8oz) mason jars instead next time, and have many smaller gifts instead of a few large ones. We’ll cover the tops (before putting on the ring) with the same picnic-color fabric.
Hi, love the idea of candy cane vodka but I have a couple of questions…What size jar do you use, how much vodka & candy cane sticks do you put in there to soak? Thanks :)
if you want to make large amounts to share into many med size bottles to give as gifts what would be the amount of ingredients for each to have a great finished product
