Donald Trump is coming unhinged on Twitter again
Yesterday, former FBI Director Robert Mueller was named special counsel to oversee the investigation into the Trump team ties to Russia. Trump fired the last person in charge of that investigation — F.B.I. director James Comey. Well, he can’t put an end to this investigation like he had planned, so now he’s having a Twitter tantrum.
This is the single greatest witch hunt of a politician in American history!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) May 18, 2017
This is not a witch hunt. There are so many questions that fundamentally need answers so we can see if the cornerstone of our democracy — the voting process — has been influenced by Russia. No Trump, we can’t just sweep this under the rug and go play a few rounds of golf.
Journalist Lauren Wolfe stepped up to explain to Trump why calling what is currently happening a “witch hunt” is completely off base.
See, now I'm glad you added that word "politician." Because you certainly didn't mean to imply that investigating your crimes are equal 1/— Lauren Wolfe (@Wolfe321) May 18, 2017
A witch hunt meant drowning a woman thought to practice sorcery. If she was guilty, she floated up. If she was innocent, she drowned 2/— Lauren Wolfe (@Wolfe321) May 18, 2017
Either way women were murdered. What's happening to you is v different. You behave with the arrogance of a white man. You think you float 3/— Lauren Wolfe (@Wolfe321) May 18, 2017
Even when you are guilty, you think you could never drown. The American people are here to tell you that this is delusional. 4/— Lauren Wolfe (@Wolfe321) May 18, 2017
A man guilty of crimes deserves his punishment. So a "witch hunt" is, after all, a terrible metaphor for yr situation. 5/— Lauren Wolfe (@Wolfe321) May 18, 2017
Let's go with "a proper investigation into your illegal activities as the representative of this country" & now sit down & take it. 6/6— Lauren Wolfe (@Wolfe321) May 18, 2017
“And now sit down and take it.”
Every time some suspect behavior surfaces, Trump tries to deflect blame on “the media.” NPR points out he even brought up his grievance with the media while delivering the commencement speech to the Coast Guard Academy this week. “Look at the way I’ve been treated lately, especially by the media,” he said. “No politician in history — and I say this with great surety — has been treated worse or more unfairly.”
William LeGate, computer programer and entrepreneur, had his own glorious response to Trump’s claim that he is the subject of the biggest “witch hunt” in political history:

Abraham Lincoln was assassinated while watching a play.— #TakeAKnee 🇺🇸 (@williamlegate) May 18, 2017
You relentlessly attacked Obama for years over a baseless & racist conspiracy theory that has been needlessly proven false.— #TakeAKnee 🇺🇸 (@williamlegate) May 18, 2017
& you bitch like a little crying baby bc they're launching an independent investigation because YOU fired the person investigating you?— #TakeAKnee 🇺🇸 (@williamlegate) May 18, 2017
I'm not even a huge Hillary fan, but LOL @ you thinking you've had ANY bit of a witch hunt. pic.twitter.com/znlc1qNcVK— #TakeAKnee 🇺🇸 (@williamlegate) May 18, 2017
