A Royal Breed Indeed

Corgis are arguably the cutest pooches around, and no one loves them more than Queen Elizabeth II. So, in honor of International Corgi Day — which coincides with this week’s Jubilee, an event celebrating the monarch's reign — enjoy these adorable photos of the queen and corgis.

Even on business trips, the queen still has time for some corgi-lovin’. Here, Her Majesty chats to corgi dog owners as she leaves Government House, where she unveiled a statue of herself on July 3, 2010, in Winnipeg, Canada.

Before she was the queen, she was a princess who loved corgis just the same. Pictured here is a young Elizabeth on the grounds of her London home, 145 Piccadilly, with her pet corgis Jane and Dookie.

QEII is always down for corgi cuddles. This corgi named Spencer got to meet the queen as she arrived at the Welshpool train station on April 28, 2010, in Welshpool, Wales. (Spencer and Elizabeth — the duo we didn’t know we needed.)
