March brings us the official start of spring — and the official start of Aries babies, if you give birth between March 20th and April 19th. This zodiac sign is symbolized by the ram, and accordingly, your little Aries will charge into this world with a headstrong attitude (no need to wait until the teen years, right?) and a bold, fiery soul.

This only makes sense, of course, because Aries is a fire sign: passionate, energetic, and direct. Lady Gaga, Eddie Murphy, Mariah Carey, and Elton John are all Aries; need we say more? Whatever your Aries offspring undertakes, they’ll do so with a zeal and determination so forceful that it’ll make you tired just to watch. (But who are we kidding … they’ll make you tired regardless.)

Here are our favorite picks for those confident, charismatic Aries babies.

1. Ember

For a fire sign, you can’t get any more direct than an actual component of an actual fire — the glowing, smoldering embers! If you’re not keen on word names, you can switch it up by adding a suffix, like Emberly or Emberlyn.

2. Audrey

This name means “noble and strong,” and perfectly conveys that trademark Aries strength.

3. Nova

Aries is the first astrological sign in the zodiac, and comes in the springtime, when everything is fresh — and Nova is derived from the Latin word novus, meaning “new.”

4. Scarlet

Every astrological sign has its signature color, and it should come as no surprise that Aries’ color is as bold as its personality: red.

5. Rachel

There really aren’t any girl names that mean “ram,” but Rachel means “ewe” — the ram’s female counterpart — so you can still pay homage to the Aries constellation.

6. Moxie

The dictionary definition of the word “moxie” is “force of character, determination, or nerve.” And we can’t think of anything that better sums up the traits of typical Aries babies than this fun, quirky name.

7. Vivian

This name means “living” or “alive,” and captures the vibrant spirit and zest for life that all Aries babies share. (Plus, we really reeeally like the nickname Vivi.)

8. Fallon

Derived from the Irish surname Ó Fallamhain, meaning “leader” or “superior.” Since Aries are known for taking charge and being in command, this is definitely fitting. And it’s unisex, so it’s wearable on your Aries no matter who they turn out to be.

9. Odin

Another Aries trait is forward thinking and inspiration — and Odin means “inspiration.” It also translates to “one” in Russian, so this one’s a double whammy since Aries is the number one sign in the zodiac.

10. Rogan

Scarlet is the perfect “red” name for girls, but for boys, the choice is a little less obvious: Rogan! It comes from an Irish surname derived from the Gaelic word ruadh, meaning — you guessed it — “red.”

11. Brantley

This name comes to us from the Old High German brant, which means “fire.” Another hot option (see what we did there?) is Kenneth, which is derived from the Gaelic name Cináed, meaning “born of fire.”

12. Everett

Aries are anything but faint of heart, and a name that means “brave” is a sure winner. Okay, so Everett means “brave as a boar,” but it’s also fitting for a ram — right?

13. Dash

Everything about this name practically screams Aries. Not only because it’s inherently feisty and energetic, but because it means “ram” in Albanian. It’s technically referring to a battering ram, but that term itself comes from the actual ram, who’s known for butting its head into things.

14. Aries

You literally cannot get any more straightforward — or more perfectly suited — than using Aries as a name. After all, not only is it the very-recognizable name of the zodiac sign, but it actually means “ram” in Latin. If you really want to pay homage to your baby’s sun sign, you can name your little Aries … well, Aries.

15. Marcus

Aries’ ruling planet is Mars, and Marcus is derived from Mars, the Roman god of war. If Marcus doesn’t quite fit your taste, there’s also Marcellus and its shorter variant, Marcel, which mean the same.

Aries kids will wear you out, stress you out, and give you gray hairs — but they’ll also never fail to impress you with their dynamic personalities, unflinching confidence, and ability to light the world on fire. Emphasize those amazing tendencies by giving them one of these perfect names for Aries babies.
