Form a calming circle — Kathy Najimy, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Better Midler are all coming back for the “Hocus Pocus” sequel

It’s 2020 and that means we can use all the good news we can get and thankfully, Bette Midler is coming through for us with a Hocus Pocus sequel update guaranteed to make you run amok, amok, amok. The original cast of witches, Kathy Najimy, Sarah Jessica Parker, and the Divine Miss M herself are all in. Go ahead. Jump around like a woman who has a new lease on life after 300 years.

“They want to make a movie, they’ve asked us if we were interested and of course all of us said yes,” said Midler during an interview with Good Day New York. “I’m game, I’m totally game.”

It was earlier this year that the news came via Variety that our favorite trio of witchy sisters might return in their original form for Hocus Pocus 2, coming to us courtesy of Disney+. The production company’s hopes were that Midler, Najimy, and Parker would return to reprise their roles from the 1993 original rather than a reboot with new actresses. Looks like we’re in luck.

No word yet on when we can expect the new film to be released, but in the meantime, there’s plenty of Hocus Pocus magic to keep us entertained. The witches are actually reuniting for an October 30th live, one-night-only virtual event called “In Search of the Sanderson Sisters” that looks like a ton of Halloween-themed and nostalgia-packed magic. Midler shared a first glimpse of the sisters in their costumes last week and we got pretty freaking pumped.

The reunion event benefits the Midler-founded charity New York Restoration Project aimed at beautifying public park spaces around the five boroughs. “Hocus Pocus is the theme of this year’s New York Restoration Project (@nyrp) annual fundraising gala Hulaween. A virtual event, that can be streamed worldwide! Tickets are only $10, for a great cause, and available at nyrpshop.org.”

If you haven’t bought your tickets for the virtual event there’s still time. We don’t know when we’ll get to see the sequel so we need all the Winifred, Mary, and Sarah that we can get until then.
