People are pretty upset about Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan calling it quits

Last night, Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan broke the entire internet’s hearts with the news of their separation. Yes, the couple that made gushing over each other on Instagram an art form appear to be calling it quits, and it’s making people wonder if love is still alive or has ever existed at all.

Once Tatum and Dewan’s shared statement hit their social media accounts, devastated fans of the couple and love in general took to their status updates to let the world know their pain.

Like, really — they apparently ruined love and a beloved cheesy dance movie in one fell swoop.

People are drowning their sorrows in ice cream as though it’s their own relationship ending.

The news has the internet desperately grasping on to something they know is true. Blake and Ryan, please don’t fail us now.

That lone tear sliding down the cheek? It was me in bed at 9:30 last night when I heard the news. *Cue R.E.M.’s Everybody Hurts*

Some folks are getting a teeny bit dramatic, though.

But can you blame them? Their hope in the promise of true love is now forever dimmed. Only Blake and Ryan and Chrissy and John can keep the flame lit.

I mean, if these two sexy beings who regularly proclaimed their love for each other can’t make it, what hope do any of us have?

A lot of overreacting going on, but this has people totally shook.

Tell ’em, Tyra.

Of course we know they’re “only” celebrities and not personal friends, but it still hurts.

Any chances this is the world’s most elaborate and cruel prank? Fans would probably forgive them if it meant restoring their faith in true love.

Honestly, it’s hard not to take this personally.

But at least some fans are keeping their sense of humor intact.

But this is the most accurate thing of all time. Send the goddamn wine.

RIP, true love.
