From The Confessional: I'm No Longer A Christian Because They're All Hypocritical AF

These moms said BYE-BYE to Christianity for good

Religion has caused far more problems in the world than it’s ever solved, Christianity in particular (*cough* colonization *cough*). Though it can feel nice to belong to a church and a community all coming together to worship one God, when that community excludes people from marginalized communities and only exists to advance the patriarchy, well, these moms said “no thanks.” Ex-Christians are coming out of the woodwork to spill all in our confessional.

Maybe you left Christianity behind because you realized the Bible was not, in fact, the book all American principles and laws should be based upon. Maybe you left because women can’t lead your church. Maybe you left because Front Pew Pauline is committing all sorts of adulterous sins while condemning the LGBTQ community.

Whatever your reason, you’re certainly not alone. Sit back, relax, and enjoy these moms who are spilling allllll the ex-Christian tea.

my husband is having a harder time moving on from fundamentalism than i am which creates conflict at times. i am a liberal progressive christian, he makes me feel bad for it when he can. if he dumps me, i'll get half of everything and be ok. scared.

trying not to cry. dh has become so hateful and nasty about politics. i can't stand it anymore. wish i'd never bought into conservative christianity/politics as a young person. wish i could leave but there's no way financially. sad about my choices today.

My aunt worked for planned parenthood, she told me that conservative Christians are notorious for getting secret abortions- because of course those hypocritical assholes are!

Confessional #25848398

i know i am no longer a christian, but cannot tell anyone in real life. just glad we don't do church anymore. so i just go along with being a nominal christian for now. it just makes no sense to me anymore. living in reality is nicer.

This pandemic has made me realize that conservative Christians are the worst, most hypocritical humans to walk the earth. They are not pro life. They are a literal death cult.

The pandemic coming immediately on the tail end of the Trump era has absolutely shone a big ol’ bright light on the hypocrisies of the Christian Right.

Listen up, fellow Christians. We don’t get to proclaim the sanctity of life, or that we love our neighbor & then refuse a mask or a vaccine that keeps vulnerable people alive. Anything else is a lie of Satan & you know it.

Confessional #25846126

no longer believe in right wing christianity. headed more towards agnostic. cannot tell dh as he thinks everyone should be christian. we don't do church so that's a plus. we don't really talk about it so i guess i'll stay hidden for now.

Confessional #25844064

feeling like i am no longer christian but just believe in the positive teachings of christ. we don't go to church, and i love the freedom. just can't tell dh as he still feels everyone should believe in god. wish i could just be free sometimes.

Is there anything sadder than wives who have to hide their ex-Christian beliefs from their husbands? It’s nothing short of tragic.

now that i've dropped organized religion and the american church, i feel freer to read my bible and live the actual teaching of christ. i have more love and compassions for others now. so sad that evangelicalism has been so toxic.

Confessional #25825040

admitting that i am no longer an evangelical xtian is scary. still believe in a kinder gentler god concept thanks to mr fred rogers and his testimony. can't tell anymore around me. all red extreme conservatives. sad i used to be that way.

Confessional #25810297

realizing that evangelical christianity simply does not make sense anymore. never did. guiding kids out, dh already out more than he will admit. teaching kids to question and research for themselves. religious grandparents not liking this.

Confessional #25799194

As of today, I’m not a Christian. Fuck the evangelical church.

Confessional #25793957

Many people don’t realize that you can be spiritual and even believe in a version of God without it having anything to do with Christianity. YOU CAN. YOU TOTALLY CAN.

trying to get out of being judgmental. this was what I learned growing up in extreme evangelical church. now I am free, but having hard time breaking the habit of auto judgement. know I am much happier and open to people and the world now. glad to be free

Confessional #25343034

left religion behind but still believe in god of love/kindness.realized how exhausting evangelical Christianity is especially mentally.cannot tell parents as they believe in hellfire, etc.glad they live cross country.leaving church made me a kinder person.

I believe in Jesus - privately! I have a personal relationship with my savior. I consider today's evangelicals to be the "hypocrites" who pray publicly for attention. Those mega church leaders are the money changers Jesus would throw out of the temple.

Basically, whatever your reasons for leaving—good on you for doing it. It’s not easy, it’s likely a lifelong de-conditioning process, and you’ll certainly face judgment for leaving the church. But isn’t that why you left in the first place?
