The Truths of Motherhood: Why More Moms Are Choosing Themselves

How Momcozy is turning rest into an act of collective care.

Written by Malana VanTyler

Motherhood reshapes a woman’s identity in ways that often go unspoken and unrecognized. She is seen as invincible, the rock upon which everyone depends. But the truth is, the “mom” you see is also a woman with needs, many of which go unseen.

Women are expected to give endlessly, often without pause. And for many, answering the question “What do you need?” becomes automatic: I’m fine even when it’s not true.

This Mother’s Day, that narrative is starting to shift.

Through its Choose You, Too Mother’s Day campaign, Momcozy is partnering with Postpartum Support International (PSI) to help make the realities of motherhood more visible and expand access to meaningful support for women at every stage of the journey.

The Truth About Motherhood

At the center of the campaign is the Truths of Motherhood Report, developed in collaboration with PSI. The report explores the real, multi-dimensional experiences of modern motherhood, moving beyond outdated narratives that often portray it as either perfectly joyful or overwhelmingly difficult.

Instead, it reveals a more honest reality: motherhood exists in between.

It is a space where joy and exhaustion coexist. Where pride can live alongside identity shifts. Where fulfillment is often balanced with an invisible mental and physical load.

What the report highlights most clearly is this: while support exists, it often requires mothers to ask for it, coordinate it, and manage it themselves, adding to the very burden it’s meant to relieve.

The Importance Of Rest And Everyday Support

When a mother finally gives herself permission to rest, even in small ways, the impact is meaningful. More comfort, more energy, more time to reconnect with herself.

But rest doesn’t happen on its own; it needs support.

That’s where thoughtful, everyday solutions come in. Momcozy’s products are designed to help reduce the physical and mental load of caregiving, turning small moments into opportunities for rest and relief.

For example, the Momcozy Pregnancy Pillow is designed to support full-body comfort and better sleep during pregnancy and postpartum, helping moms find rest in a time when it’s often hardest to come by. And for newborn sleep, essentials like the Baby Sleep Sack and Easy Swaddle Wrap are designed to help create more consistent rest for both baby and mom.

Turning Purchases Into Purpose

To bring this message into real-world impact, Momcozy is also launching its Gifts That Give Back promotion in support of PSI.

From April 26 through May 10, 15 percent of proceeds from select sleep essentials, including the Baby Sleep Sack, Easy Swaddle Wrap, and Pregnancy Pillow, will be donated to support PSI’s maternal mental health programs.

These programs help fund access to trained experts and helpline resources, offering critical support to mothers navigating emotional challenges during pregnancy and postpartum.

The promotion also includes thoughtful, built-in reminders of support. A Mother’s Day card adds a personal touch, while an NFC-enabled fridge badge provides quick access to mental health resources, bringing support into everyday life.

Support That Goes Beyond The Product

At its core, this campaign is about more than products; it’s about creating a system of support that mothers don’t have to build on their own. And as you purchase and use these products, you are also able to acknowledge other mothers’ journeys and hardships. Through the campaign, the brand is working to move beyond just selling products to becoming a bridge to resources for women’s betterment. It also aims to show that purchases can generate meaningful aid for women at a time in their lives when they may have little to no support system.

In the end, choosing yourself should never be seen as selfish. In fact, choosing you is a radical act of self-care.
