A Selena-themed cruise? What could be better than that?

Get your bidi-bidi bom-boms in line and geared up for the most perfect vacation you never knew you always needed — a cruise honoring the music and life of Selena. Yes, that’s right, you can set sail on an adventure along the seas and rock out to the beloved Selena soundtrack of your dreams.

The themed cruise, called Dreaming of You 25: The Como La Flor Cruise, is scheduled for next year. According to the website for the cruise, it’ll run from September 25-29, 2020, and will sail out of Los Angeles to Ensenada, Mexico. Selena’s husband, Chris Perez, will also be performing on the cruise with his band, Grupo Metal.

The ‘Como la Flor’ cruise kicks off with a party and “surprise special guest” Jennifer Lopez or a member of the Quintanilla family, perhaps?). Several L.A.-based cover bands will be part of the musical lineup, too. The site also promises lots of dancing lessons and other onboard activities to keep you endlessly entertained. Prices for cruise tickets range from $750-$2,800 per person.

Sounds pretty amazing, doesn’t it? It’s right up there with the Golden Girls-themed cruise launching next year, too.

Selena Quintanilla was one of the biggest pop stars ever — she was lauded for her talent, her gorgeous looks, as well as her ability to successfully engage fans of Tejano music all over the world. She was tragically murdered at the height of her career, and there’s not a soul alive who hasn’t wondered “what could have been” when it comes to her legacy, which remains strong more than 20 years after her death.

Her influence is still so strong all these years later, Netflix has even begun developing a scripted series based on her life. The new series will be developed and produced alongside members of the Quintanilla family. “Selena will always have a lasting place in music history and we feel great responsibility to do justice to her memory,” Suzette Quintanilla, Selena’s sister, said in a statement in December, when plans for the series were first announced.

According to Netflix, the series will be a “coming-of-age story” that follows Selena’s life and career, as well as her family life. It’s currently being marketed as a two-part limited series.

True Selena fans and those of us who came of age in the ’90s probably remember a little movie called, appropriately, Selena, starring none other than Jennifer Lopez. While that movie is will always be a cinematic classic, it’ll be interesting to see Selena’s story told in a more documentary-style way.

If that’s too serious or potentially heavy for you, then the Selena cruise really might be the way to go. Personally, I can’t imagine a better time than sun, sand, water, and every single Selena song blaring through a cruise ship while I’ve got a drink in my hand — but that’s just me.
