Roseanne is coming back next year and *hallelujah* to that

2017 has been a super weird and unfortunate year. The Conners are about to make things a whole lot better. ABC finally unveiled the official release date for the Roseanne revival, along with the briefest of teaser trailers — and it’s all coming our way very, very soon.

The nine-episode series will premiere on March 27, 2018, for an hour-long special. The show will then hop back over to its original television time slot of Tuesdays at 8 p.m. The entire cast is returning, including John Goodman, which is somewhat confusing because his character died of a heart attack on the last episode of the show. No word yet on how they’ll resurrect him but as long as we get some Dan Conner back in our lives, literally zero complaints here.

You’ll also see a whole slew of familiar faces, including Sarah Chalke as Becky, Sandra Bernhard as Nancy Bartlett, Johnny Galecki as David Healy, and Estelle Parsons as Beverly Harris.

If your heart is already bursting from all the delightful waves of nostalgia (that living room! that laugh!), just wait until you see the behind-the-scenes shot of the revival’s first table read. Also, can we please note that D.J. Connor is an actual grown person now, which is kind of insane.

If you’d like to send many notes of gratitude to whoever made this reunion a reality, you’ll have to direct them to Sara Gilbert aka Darlene Conor. The actress, who is now a co-host on The Talk, pretty much helped pulled the whole thing together.

“I had been talking personally in my own life about, ‘Is it possible? Oh, maybe it would just have to be a spin-off, probably everybody wouldn’t do it,’” Gilbert said during a Facebook Live interview with Entertainment Weekly. “Then John came on and said, ‘Hell yeah,’ or whatever he said, and then I had a moment where I thought, ‘Oh wow, maybe everybody will do this.’”

She ended up approaching the rest of the cast about coming back and, in what she called “a magical experience,” they all said yes.

So, mark your calendars, everyone. T-minus three months until we get to return to Lanford once more. Cheers to that!
