This is not a drill: This Is Us renewed for two seasons

Your new favorite show has been renewed. That’s right, NBC announced today that not only has This Is Us been renewed for another season, it’s been renewed for two.

According to Entertainment Weekly, NBC Entertainment president Jennifer Salke also revealed that “seasons 2 and 3 will contain 18 episodes each, guaranteeing at least 36 more installments.”

Thirty six more episodes – guaranteed? YES! I mean, that’s great. We’re not freaking out. We have lives. And plans. We don’t arrange our evenings around our DVR schedules. We didn’t cry so much after Toby collapsed in the cliffhanger episode that we could barely function the next day at work. That would be weird.

The show earned a full season order after only one episode, which should’ve been a hint to how attached viewers would get. It’s kind of hard to choose who to love most. Seriously, can you name a character you don’t like in this show? They’re not perfect — they’re honest, relatable, and real. And we love it. Okay, having Milo Ventimigila and Sterling K. Brown to gawk at doesn’t hurt.

“With the nature of timeline, we’ll never run out of stories,” creator Dan Fogelman said. “There’s a hinge in this family and it’s a before with Jack and after. That will be interesting in future seasons as we go forward to show what that hinge was and what happened to people before and after. We’ll slowly but surely learn how and when. Hopefully that takes many more episodes.”

Yes. Many, many more.
