All proceeds from the ‘Dad Bods & Rescue Dogs’ calendar go back to the rescue

If you’re a dog lover and also fancy yourself a dad-bod every now and again, today is your lucky day. There’s a rescue in Council Bluffs, Iowa that put the two together in the most adorable of ways — and you can own a piece of them (in the least creepy way possible).

Lucky Bulldogs Rescue created a 12-month calendar that features professional photos of French Bulldogs, English Bulldogs, Boston Terriers, and Pugs along with male model volunteers. The result is a calendar full of picture after picture that will have you saying, “awwwwwww” after you turn each page.

Photographer Lyndsey Wright tells Scary Mommy that she was able to create the “Dad Bods & Rescue Dogs 2020” calendar with the help of some great guys and the initial idea from fellow Lucky Bulldogs Rescue Board Member Stacy Perkins. “We just launched it last week in hopes of raising funds to get our rescue going full speed ahead,” she said. “We already have a handful of foster dogs and the more funds we raise, the more dogs we can save.”

Wright and four other volunteers started the nonprofit organization. Their mission — to rescue as many brachycephalic (short snout) dogs as they can from the commercial breeding system, rehabilitate them, and adopt them to loving forever homes. “We focus on English Bulldogs, French Bulldogs, Pugs, Boston Terriers, and other short-nosed breeds we like to call the smushie faces,” Wright continued. “All our dogs are fostered in the homes of volunteers who work hard to gain the dogs’ trust and teach them that positive human interaction is possible while also maintaining medical care and sometimes dealing with dogs with special needs.”

Wright says the goal is always the same — finding them a permanent family where they “can experience the spoiled pet life after spending their first years being bred.” As with most rescues and nonprofits, funding is key. The calendar is a unique and fun way of raising money — 100 percent of which goes back to Lucky Bulldogs Rescue.

Wright says the rescue has agreements with some commercial breeders who send them dogs who have special needs or are “retired” who they will also work to find loving homes for. We can’t show you all the months, but it’s easy to see how much the folks who work for Lucky Bulldogs love their pups (and the dads aren’t too shabby either).

If you want to purchase the calendar for yourself or another dog (and dad) lover in your life, they are on sale now for just $20. That’s a small price to pay for helping these pups and scoring yourself a cute calendar at the same time.
