Couple Throws Perfect DIY Disney Wedding
Check out these adorable centerpieces from this DIY Disney wedding
One Disney-loving couple decided to create the happiest place on Earth at their wedding through the magic of super glue and DIY projects. Ty Junemann and Ashley Idema created enchanting Disney-themed centerpieces and decorations that the internet (and we) can’t get enough of.
Even the bride’s dress was a part of Disney magic as it came from the Alfred Angelo’s Disney Fairytale Weddings collection and was inspired by Cinderella. But she didn’t stop there. “In planning their wedding, Ashley got really creative with the decor, finding a unique way to pay homage to some of their favorite Disney movies,” wedding photographer extraordinaire Dawn Browne told Scary Mommy.
“The ceremony had a simple woodland with butterflies that represents many of the classic animated movies like Snow White, Sleeping Beauty and even Alice in Wonderland.” Browne also loves Disney so she was the perfect camerawoman to capture the special day.
Like all Disney fans, it was hard for the couple to pick just one story to celebrate. Their solution ended up beautifully. “At the reception, each table had a different theme,” she explained. “The Cinderella themed table had a pumpkin carriage, the Little Mermaid table featured a snarfblatt and a dinglehopper and the Tangled table had an array of lanterns.”
“Ashley crafted a rose with twinkle lights to go with their Mrs. Potts, Chip and light up Lumiere figurines on the Beauty and the Beast table,” the photog shared with us.
“The head table featured a miniature version Sleeping Beauty Castle to commemorate the spot where Ty proposed,” Browne told Scary Mommy. Ashley’s prince charming proposed “at Disneyland in a quiet little spot next to Sleeping Beauty Castle,” their photographer shared with us.
After such a romantic engagement how could the couple not have a Disney-themed wedding? While the couple brought in touches of Disney everywhere, Ashely told reporters that her favorite thing was her bouquet. “The night before the wedding, my best friend and I were up late putting together bouquets for the bridesmaids. It was 2 a.m. by the time we got around to putting mine together,” she detailed. “At that point, I was too exhausted to think, so my husband sent me to bed. He stayed up later and put together my bouquet for me.” Awwww.
Thank goodness the couple is so much better with a hot glue gun than anyone we know. “It took time to collect and even make all the different items needed to theme each table differently,” Browne reported.
But it was totally worth all the hard work, and it ended up making the wedding extra special. “The guests loved it, though and spent part of their evening wandering around to each table,” Browne told us. “It was definitely a great way to get the guests mingling!”
Thanks to the help from some family members the couple had a once-in-a-lifetime cake created just for them, too. It “was made by Ashley’s sister-in-law and was topped with mini replicas of Carl and Ellie’s chairs from the movie Up,” Browne shared.
So what did the newlyweds do after each miniature Disney scene was finished and appreciated? Honeymooned at Walt Disney World, of course. “This wedding is proof that Disney is a state of mind and Disney fairy tales can happen anywhere,” Browne told Pop Sugar.
