Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard show they’re just like every parent who gets emotional over kindergarten
For parents experiencing kindergarten for the first time, that first day can be a real doozy — for us, not our kids. Knowing all parents experience every emotion on the scale when it comes to The Kindergarten Feels helps us get through it, which is yet another reason why we love Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard.
The couple shared a few pics of daughter Lincoln’s first day, and hoo boy — you’ll be in your feelings after seeing them.
Bell’s photos are freaking adorable, because of course they are. And her caption is even better: “Nerd alert!!! The team Shepard loves school!!”
They all walked to school hand-in-hand. HAND-IN-HAND, you guys. My daughter is only three and I already know her school’s staff is going to have to pry her tiny little fingers away from mine one by one someday, so…yeah. I feel this on a spiritual level.
Also, oh my God, this photo.
Her little arms and head wrapped around her daddy before she goes in for her big first day — I’m deceased. This actually made me tear up, because I’m obsessed with my little girl and this will be her before I know it and it’s just so incredibly sweet.
Speaking of Dax, he shared his feelings about Lincoln going to school in his own post.
“5 years old. Driving the boat last week. First day of kindergarten today. Life is damn sweet.”
I think maybe this best highlights why the Bell-Shepard family’s school posts are affecting me on a deeper level than I’d expect (for that matter, so are everyone’s kindergarten posts on social media): because it all goes by so quickly. It’s cliché and cheesy and everyone says it all the damn time, yes I know, but one minute they’re relying on you for absolutely everything and you feel like you just can’t take one more second of it sometimes — and then, in the blink of an eye, they’re giving you one last tight hug before going off and doing their own thing in school.
Bell’s adorable reaction to Lincoln’s preschool graduation earlier this year proves we all get emotional over kids and their accomplishments, no matter how big or small they are. And kindergarten is a big deal, man. Especially when it’s your first kiddo’s first time.
