One Busy Mom’s Must-Haves For An Easter Her Family Won’t Forget

From baskets to brunch, everything you need for a stress-free holiday.

Written by Kate Brierley

As video creator and social media maven Alexis Cole looks ahead to Easter, she’s focused on making it every bit as doable as it is memorable. Between keeping up with her thriving career, staying present in her marriage, and raising her 2-year-old daughter Aza, this mom has a lot of experience existing in perpetual motion. So this year, she’s resolved to prove that being short on time doesn’t have to take away from the celebrations that mean the most.

Above all, Cole is leaning into making memories with the ladies in her life. Aza is one of a growing number of girl cousins and now that she’s out of the baby stage, Cole is excited to start building new traditions with the whole extended family. “We have all these girls around now,” she tells Scary Mommy. “I definitely want to plan something nice for us to do together.”

But even as she creates new memories with her little girl, Cole doesn’t plan to abandon the traditions that made her own childhood Easters so special. “My grandmother always brought us huge bags of toys and cute little activities, and we would spend hours playing games with each other,” Cole recalls. “I plan to get dresses and goodie bags for the girls to take home so the next generation can have that same experience!”

When it comes to bringing traditions new and old to life on time and under budget, Cole’s secret is simple: ”Walmart has a ton of Easter items that don’t require any additional work — it’s basically a one-stop shop for everything I need to host.” From festive decor and wow-worthy baskets to a brunch table that feels elevated while still being kid-friendly, Cole knows that less time fussing over shopping and party prep means more quality memories made with her family. And, at the end of the day, isn’t that what the holiday is all about?

Keep reading for this mom’s roundup of festive must-haves that don’t require any extra effort.

Casual meets elegant with this 16-piece stoneware dining set that delivers the durability families with young kids need, whether you’re hosting a special occasion or just an ordinary weeknight dinner. This top-rated option’s beautiful blue hue makes it feel festive as warmer weather approaches, and since it’s dishwasher- and microwave-safe, you’ll never have to think twice when it comes to care.

Whether you’re serving up scones, sweets, or all of the above (because yes, please!) for Easter brunch, this three-tiered serving tray helps you do it in style. It’s made up of three unique plate designs, each with scalloped edges and vibrant colors that epitomize springtime elegance. Bonus points for a price point that’s as charming as its whimsical design.

This mirrored rose gold flatware will up the aesthetic ante on any springtime table. With 20-pieces in total (enough to set a table for 4), the set is crafted from stainless steel, so you can feel confident that it’ll hold up for years to come. The on-trend mirror finish adds some seasonal sophistication and the materials keep things dishwasher-safe — a major plus for moms who have *literally* no time to hand wash.

These oversized cappuccino mugs make a sweet addition to any holiday coffee station. Their simple and timeless porcelain design is a hit for harmonizing with colorful Easter decor of all kinds, and once the holiday is behind you, these guys will play just as nicely with everyday dinnerware.

This whimsical bunny decoration is all you need to bring a dose of brightness to your Easter celebration without feeling over-the-top. The warm LED lights add a festive glow to any side table, while the built-in timer means you won’t have to interrupt your holiday fun to turn it on and off.

Is it even Easter without a creamy Cadbury Crème Egg (or five)? That’s a hard ‘no’ from us. Stock up on a couple boxes of these iconic chocolate eggs to give out as party favors or just to enjoy on your own once the last of your guests has left (go ahead — you deserve it).

Nothing says ‘happy Easter’ like an oversized Reese’s peanut butter cup in a mouthwateringly festive egg-shaped design. Add a bowl of these creamy milk chocolate-covered goodies to your Easter dessert table, or for a sweet surprise, use them in place of small toys inside plastic eggs on your annual egg hunt.

Bunny-shaped everything is totally welcome this time of year, and Sour Patch Kids are no egg-ception (see what we did there?). This cute twist on a classic treat is an on-theme option to add to any basket, and they’re only available for a limited time, so stock up on ‘em while you still can!

Another delicious twist on a time-honored go-to, these Reese’s Bunny Ear Canes are perfect for channeling those hoppy Easter vibes. Pro tip: They make the cutest addition to your table settings — set one alongside each place card, or go all out and pour them into a bowl for guests to snack on throughout the meal.
