The cast for the new season of American Horror Story is here, and it includes a big surprise: Macaulay Culkin

Season 10 of American Horror Story is coming, and one of the most highly anticipated announcements of each of the FX show’s seasons has finally arrived: the cast. Season 10 will see the return of a number of familiar faces that AHS lovers will recognize, as well as one surprising newcomer that we did not expect to see: Macaulay Culkin.

Yes, that Macaulay Culkin. The former child star of Home Alone fame who has spent most of his adulthood on the very fringes of the spotlight is stepping back into stardom and will have a role on Season 10 of American Horror Story. While the news is definitely out of left field, people still seem pretty excited about this unexpected casting decision.

Culkin has been on a little bit of a comeback tour recently. He’s gotten more active on social media, and did a huge profile interview with Esquire that helped build some buzz around his name before this announcement. The profile focused on life for Culkin now, decades after Home Alone made him a household name. In it, he didn’t mention any big upcoming projects, but the surprise of this announcement definitely made it more fun.

And while Culkin has definitely created a ton of buzz around the casting announcement, his is far from the only big name attached to American Horror Story‘s 10th season.

For Season 10, we’ll see the return of Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters, both series regulars who took a break from the show (much to viewers’ despair) during the last season. Fans are definitely very excited to see them coming back.

The rest of the cast is pretty stacked, too. Kathy Bates, Billie Lourd, Leslie Grossman, Adina Porter, Lily Rabe, Angelica Ross and Finn Wittrock will all be part of the show’s 10th season.

A decade of American Horror Story, this stacked cast, the return of Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters, and the comeback role for Macaulay Culkin? This is going to be a season for the books, and we cannot wait for it to start.
