Mom pumps breast milk mid-run and impresses us all

Talk about handling things like a total boss. This woman has serious skills and hardcore dedication. Fist pumps to a mom who can pump and run at the same time.

Anna Young, who is five months postpartum whipped out her hand pump mid-run during a half marathon over the weekend in Salt Lake City. She was photographed doing it and later shared the image on the Facebook page Occupy Breastfeeding.

Young wrote in the post that she had to leave her house at 4:30 AM to start the race at 6:45 AM. “I nursed my daughter before I left my house, pumped after running the first eight miles and nursed her after I made it past the finish line,” Young wrote.

In case you’re trying to do the math, a half marathon is roughly 13 miles. Races like that typically start pretty early in the morning which could leave a breastfeeding mom in quite the predicament. You don’t want your supply to be impacted by not nursing or pumping for a long stretch of time and you definitely do not want to deal with engorged boobs. Seriously, the pain is like no other. So what do you do? Skip the marathon? Find a place to pump on the sidelines? Or just pump and run? Young chose the last.

To top it all off this amazing woman used a hand pump people. A hand pump. Have you ever tried to use one of those things? Let’s just say it’s a challenge in itself, without the added difficulty of operating one while running, walking or doing anything other than sitting or standing still.

Young is getting lots of love on the internet for being a breastfeeding badass with over 7,000 people liking her post. Many moms are cheering her on and praising her IDGAF, total rockstar attitude about breastfeeding.

And there’s no denying that mama is a multitasking queen.

And she’s basically royalty. Can someone give her a crown please?

One commenter wrote what we’ve known about women all along.

And a man admitted he was impressed. Because, who isn’t?

At the end of Young’s post she writes something so simple, yet profound about why she did what she did. Plain and simple she had support. She wrote, “This group [Occupy Breastfeeding] and Le Leche League motivated me to find a way to run my race and take care of my daughter.”

She tells Scary Mommy, “Breastfeeding and motherhood does not limit what we are capable of and it can change your life in the best possible way.”
