You're Going To Love These Adorable Coats That Turn Kids Into Animals
Coats that turn kids into animals are made by two awesome moms
Two awesome moms who met at swim class for their first borns have created a fantastic clothing company featuring coats that turn kids into adorable animals. And they even named their shop after their babies – Olive & Vince.
“We decided to get together and learn to make kids’ clothes, and before long Nat had a really exciting idea that she couldn’t get out of her head: Olive & Vince children’s clothing,” Naomi told Scary Mommy. “I told her I loved the idea and we started setting up our Etsy shop and building our brand.” The creative crew lives in the United Kingdom, but ship worldwide. And just look at how freaking cute their coats are.
“Nat, being the visionary dreamer of our partnership, had the brilliant idea of making kids’ coats with little fox ears on the hood, a fuzzy fur chest and fluffy tail,” she shared. “As soon as I heard the idea, I knew it was a winner.” It most definitely was, and the ladies have been busy running their Etsy shop, which is their main storefront.
“I worked for several months designing and perfecting the patterns, and in late summer 2015 we released our Fox, Wolf, Ladybird and Bumble Bee coats,” Naomi explained. “They were instantly popular, and when they went viral on Facebook at the end of last year, we were inundated with orders and inquiries.”
If you’re thinking of snagging one for Christmas, get your order in soon because the custom creations take about six weeks to make before they can ship. “Every coat that has gone out to a new home has been cherished, which makes us both feel incredibly proud,” the busy mom told us. “As each garment that we send out is handmade by the two of us and can take the best part of a full working day to complete, we put a lot of love into every piece.”
With two moms as the brains behind the whole operation, you know the products have got to be perfect for kids. “The key objective is to make practical, comfortable and ‘fuss free’ clothing for toddlers, with a strong belief that beauty should never be provided as a compromise to comfort, nor overlooking practical issues such as quickly dressing and undressing a toddler,” the owners wrote. “You will never find a crunchy denim, itchy lace or clothes that restrict a bendy toddler’s movement. You can have faith that anything you find here will have been made with comfort as the number one priority.”
Since they launched, the amazing moms have added bear, bunny, and cat coats as well as animal-themed capelet hoods. Although each coat is made with love the ladies do have a favorite. “I think I’d have to say Mr Fox! He was the original, hands down the most popular, and I can’t help but take a little moment to adore each one I make before sending it off,” Naomi said. “He’s just so freaking cool, that combination of bright orange with the fluffy white chest and tail and fuzzy little ears!”
And with little ones at home it makes sense that the moms would dress the kids in their latest designs. Naomi told us, “My own little girl wore her fox coat with pride last winter, and this year will be rocking a bunny rabbit if I get time to whip one up for her!”
