This Peanut Butter Pump Is Something Every Peanut Butter Fan Can Get Behind

A peanut butter pump is pretty much the best idea ever

If you’ve ever worked with peanut butter, you know how annoying it can be to spread it on apples or grapes (don’t knock it until you try it), and getting it smeared evenly into the crevice of your celery for the perfect “ants on a log” can be quite the undertaking. This is all aside from the fact that washing utensils covered in the yummy goo is basically one of the worst kitchen chores known to man.

Relax. A genius dad has come up with a fix for all of these problems.

Andy Scherer, a dad to five grown children (which just makes sense), decided he’d had enough of the peanut butter-crusted utensils left on counters or still in the jars themselves (because, teenagers) and invented the Peanut Butter Pump.

“Love peanut butter?” he writes. “Save time and say good-bye to the clean-up, with the ultimate kitchen tool for your favorite nut butters. So convenient, it makes all your snacks, smoothies and sandwiches easier than ever!”

The pump, which is currently being crowdfunded on Indiegogo, is a peanut butter lover’s dream. The pump fits on most popular 40 ounce PB jars in place of the lid. Simply screw it on and voila — the perfect amount of peanut butter every time.

According to their site, the PB Pump is the perfect kitchen tool “if you want to make the perfect PB&J sandwich or add just the right amount to your protein shake.” But let’s be honest, it’s the most genius invention for saying goodbye to Peanut Butter Residue, forever.

Plus, you’ll never have peanut butter knuckle again from scraping out the bottom of the jars (unless you’re into that sort of thing). No need to clean out the jars to recycle, the pump literally scrapes every lick of peanut butter out of the jar!

Seriously, there are endless reasons to love this gadget. Need the exact amount of PB for a recipe? Check. Need to fill your doggie toys without being a knife-wielding ninja? Check. Feel like pumping peanut butter directly from the jar into your mouth? Check check. Even your little ones can get in on the peanut butter sandwich-making process because there are no sharp objects needed.

The best part? There are even fewer dishes to clean up because you won’t have any silverware to wash and when the jar is empty, simply remove the pump, lick it clean, and insert into another jar. Boom — problem solved.

According to Indiegogo, the pump is selling on special if you order now for $25 plus shipping and handling and will be available in August of this year. It even works with crunchy peanut butter, so you don’t have to switch to the smooth variety if you’re a crunchy gal/dude at heart. It also comes with two nozzles, the sandwich (ribbon) nozzle for sandwiches and the stream nozzle, which is perfect for recipes.

It seems Scherer really has thought of everything. If anyone needs me, I’ll be over here counting down the days until August.
