Ashley Bouder is a principal dancer at the New York City ballet. She’s also six months pregnant. The 32-year-old mother-to-be isn’t letting a little thing like pregnancy get in the way of her perfect pirouettes.
She uploaded this video less than a week ago. It’s already racked up nearly 30k Instagram likes. Watch it and you’ll understand why.
Fifteen. That’s how many she just did, in case you were wondering. Bouder found out she was pregnant while preparing for a role in Swan Lake. She told A Plus that she consulted with her OB/GYN and was reassured that performing at her current activity level wouldn’t harm the baby. “I can’t imagine a role and workout routine more strenuous than Swan Lake” said Bouder. At 20 weeks she finished out the show. She’s still exercising and teaching ballet. She told A Plus that once she gives birth in April, she plans on being back on stage by July. She said the ballet has been “wonderful” in accommodating her pregnancy and that she never felt that she was being treated differently.
Adorable. It’s almost impossible to imagine this little girl not following in her mother’s footsteps. How many people can claim they’ve been pirouetting since the womb?
