Tuxedoed attendees to the dinner got to watch Christine Blasey Ford on repeat before heading inside

While attendees of a black tie gala honoring Brett Kavanaugh waited outside, they were treated to quite the show courtesy of event protestors: a truck carrying an enormous screen that played Dr. Christine Blasey Ford’s testimony on repeat. The video played before the start of the Federalist Society event, right in front of Washington D.C.’s Union Station.

The progressive group responsible for the amazing display, Demand Justice, hopes to see Kavanaugh impeached from the Supreme Court.

Protesters also passed out flyers that looked like programs for the conservative judiciary organization’s event, but actually promoted impeaching Kavanaugh. Demand Justice also flew black balloons and carried signs with the phrase “KAVANAUGH LIED.”

Prior to Kavanaugh’s confirmation to the Supreme Court, Blasey-Ford told lawmakers that she had been sexually assaulted by Kavanaugh at a party the two attended as teenagers. She also delivered a profoundly moving, deeply powerful testimony before the entire world describing the assault — but Kavanaugh denied the accusation and was eventually confirmed as a Supreme Court justice.

The Daily Beast reports that The Federalist Society has apparently played “a crucial role” in the confirmations of a number of right-leaning Supreme Court justices. In his keynote speech, Kavanaugh thanked the organization for their role in his confirmation.

“I signed up for what I knew would be an ugly process,” Kavanaugh said. “Maybe not that ugly.”

Ugh. Amazingly, protestors infiltrated the event and made sure it was anything but peaceful for the accused rapist who sits on the highest court in the land. Some blew rape whistles and shouted their support for Blasey-Ford.

Other protestors stood outside the event dressed as handmaids.

The juxtaposition of rich, white, gala attendees donning black tie garb surrounded by protestors shouting their fierce disdain for Kavanaugh is really something.

The “Kavanaugh Lied” banner with black balloons floated directly outside Union Station.

While Brett Kavanaugh addressed a crowd of supporters in a tux, Dr. Christine Blasey Ford has been in virtual hiding for the past year. It’s worth noting she was the first of several women to accuse Kavanaugh of sexual assault and misconduct, and yet she’s still lying low all this time later.

Prior to her testimony, she and her family were forced to leave their home after receiving threats once her personal details were leaked online. She’s had to move between various residences and may still be forced to have full-time security to this day.

And yet, Brett Kavanaugh is allowed to go on with his privileged D.C. life, consequence-free. While he may be free from career or legal repercussions, let’s hope protestors and justice-seekers continue to prevent him from living his life in peace.
