Kim Kardashian posts a photo of Saint West in a car seat, the internet is concerned

We all know what happens when someone posts a photo of a child in a car seat — the concern trolling and judging begins. Moms, your five-point-harness will never be placed correctly enough for the concern trolls of the internet. All hell breaks loose.

Kim Kardashian found out these truths the hard way this week, after posting an adorable photo of Saint West in the car. As you can imagine, the internet went nuts. Saint was born in December 2015, so he’s only a year and a half — and he may be front-facing in this photo. Commence concern trolling.

This child is beyond gorgeous. But people were too busy arguing about his seat placement to appreciate the cute snap.

“In CA it is state law to rear face until two years old.”

“It’s illegal to forward face before 2 in many states, California included. Ideally you don’t turn them until they max out the RF limits of the seat.”

“Needs to be rear facing. Ossification of vertebrae doesn’t happen until between 4-6 years. A one year old can be internally decapitated, which is almost always fatal, by just a quarter-inch stretch in their neck from an accident. Please rear face your children until they max out the seat, usually either 40 or 50 lbs.”

Okay, first of all — we have no idea what state they are in. We have no idea what kind of car they are in. She has more money than god, for all we know this could be a fancy car with swivel seats made of gold. We also don’t know how tall Saint is or how much he weighs. But none of this is the point. The point is, can’t we ever just give each other the benefit of the doubt?

“I think I’m more concerned that both seat belt clips are open, meaning saint might be buckled in his car seat but the regular seat belt is not hooked around the car seat.”

“Look, I’m not trying to judge or anything. All mom’s aren’t perfect and we all make mistakes. But clearly he isn’t facing the right way. From mommy to mommy please rear face him until two.”

No, clearly we can’t.

Assuming this snap was taken in California, where the star lives, The California Highway Patrol states “Children under 2 years of age shall ride in a rear-facing car seat unless the child weighs 40 or more pounds OR is 40 or more inches tall. The child shall be secured in a manner that complies with the height and weight limits specified by the manufacturer of the car seat.” It’s doubtful that any of the commenters know any of these vital statistics about Saint, or what type of carseat he’s in and its specifications. We can’t even be sure which way he’s facing in this photo.

But why just enjoy a picture when you can chastise another mother?
