Pediatrician’s booty wiggle technique seems to work to calm babies

A California pediatrician claims to have a technique that instantly calms babies. If it’s true, there are going to be a lot of happy parents of newborns out there.

Dr. Robert Hamilton of Pacific Ocean Pediatrics demonstrates a holding technique that seems to calm babies instantly. The babies he demonstrates on in the video just had shots. They’re screaming! Then – voila! Silence.

What is this sorcery?

It looks like three simple steps:

1. Fold the baby’s arms across his chest:

2. Secure the arms with one hand, while balancing the baby’s bottom with the other:

3. Rock the baby.

Hamilton reminds viewers that every movement should be gentle. He warns against “jerky” motions, and says the technique works best on newborns up to three months old.

It’s worth a try!
