The Way You Tweet Changes After You Get Engaged

According to a new study out of the Georgia Institute of Technology, if you get engaged and announce the news on Twitter, your tweets will change tremendously.

For one thing, use of the word “I” fell by 69 percent, replaced by “we” or “us.” “People began to paint themselves as a couple, rather than as individuals,” said Munmun de Choudhury, who led the study. And references to children spiked by over 200 percent.

Men tended to focus on physical appearance in their partners, using terms like “sexy” and “gorgeous”; women tended to focus on emotions and were more likely to use the L word.
