During a rally in Montana, Trump mocks survivors of sexual assault
While it’s probably no surprise our president doesn’t take the #MeToo movement seriously — privileged white men who have been accused of sexual assault wouldn’t — hearing Trump joke about it particularly nauseating. But the joke’s on him, because while lambasting a history-making movement he also proved he has no idea how DNA tests work.
You’re probably asking yourself, “what do DNA tests have to do with the ‘Me Too’ movement?” and if you are, congrats — you’re smarter than the president.
During another fucking rally (why, God, WHY) yesterday, Trump really got the MAGA crowd going by bringing up Elizabeth Warren. Because you can’t teach an old dog new tricks — he’s an obsessive, maggot-filled dumpster of misogyny when it comes to Warren. He mocked her “Indian” (his words, of course) heritage and proclaimed that maybe she needs to take one of those “ancestry tests” in the most despicable way possible.
“We’ll take that little kit and say, we have to do it gently because we are in the ‘Me Too’ generation, so we have to be very gentle,” Trump says.
First things first: the President of the United States is mocking victims of sexual assault. Let that sink in for a moment. What’s perhaps even more disheartening is that our entire country is in such a state of brokenness, this will be completely forgotten in the news cycle by the end of the day.
Secondly, where does he think DNA tests go? I’m genuinely asking. Because I’m pretty fucking sure Ancestry.com doesn’t send its female clientele a vagina swab.
Also, while he spends his days golfing and sitting behind a desk signing away the rights and lives of immigrant families, Warren is out there doing work. She’s visiting detention centers at the border and reporting the abhorrent conditions to the public — and he must hate that. So to boost himself up, he holds these obnoxious rallies and makes fun of her in the lowest, cheapest form possible.
But Elizabeth Warren isn’t having any of that nonsense.
She’s absolutely right. DNA tests are being performed on children and parents in an attempt to reunite migrant families separated at the border. Because Trump is responsible for the separation of too many immigrant families to possibly reunite them in time to meet the court order requiring each family to be reunited within 30 days.
Trump himself has been accused of sexual assault multiple times. If nothing else, you’d think he’d steer clear of even bringing up the subject when there is plenty of evidence supporting the accusations against him. But no. Not even close. Just another reminder that nothing about where we are right now is normal.
Just when you think he can’t go any lower, he always does.
