Photographer Mom Perfectly Nails Her Son's 'Up' Themed Birthday Shoot
These ‘Up’ themed birthday photos look straight out of the movie
Right after her twins were born, photographer Rachel Perman was diagnosed with cancer. She wondered at the time how many of their birthdays she would get to celebrate. It means birthdays are a pretty special thing for their family, and Perman decided to celebrate this year by putting together some truly magical photo shoots for her twin boy and girl, including one inspired by the Pixar movie Up that is actual perfection.
“For their fifth birthday I wanted to celebrate the things they love with photos!” Perman tells Scary Mommy. “It’s a celebration for me and them. The inspiration for the sessions were to celebrate all that my kids love! Elijah is very particular. He is borderline addicted to Up and has been for several years. It’s the only thing he draws and colors (the house with balloons) and the only books he wants to get at the library, and the only toy he wanted when we were in Disney World last year. He loves Up!”
Um, yeah, we would say his love for Up is extremely apparent in the photos. Just look at his face and how hard he’s cheesin’ in that photo. Adorable.
What makes this photo shoot even better is that Perman enlisted Elijah’s 90-year-old great-grandparents Richard and Caroline Bain to join in the fun dressed impeccably as Carl and Ellie from the movie.
Seriously, how well did they nail those looks?
“They were thrilled to participate and loved that I asked them,” Perman said. “Grandpa even went to the thrift store to get the jacket and hose. He said, ‘I noticed in a photo Carl had a hose over his shoulder.’ They have never seen the movie!”
Plus, it’s a great chance to get some sweet shots of the couple rocking their costumes.
But the real star of this shoot is, of course, Elijah, who is a picture-perfect Russell. His costume is perfect, and he’s clearly so happy about it in all of the photos. Just look at his sweet smile.
Plus, going viral has been a chance for little Elijah to see what an impact his joy can have on the world.
“I had no clue this would receive recognition!” Perman said. “It’s been fun to see how many people are touched by it! I keep telling the kids, ‘You are good at bringing happiness to us, now you are making the nation happy too!'”
