Time to panic — we’re currently experiencing a nationwide shortage of White Claw

In news that will strike fear into the hearts of fruity hard seltzer fans everywhere, White Claw supplies are apparently scarce. That’s right — there is literally a nationwide shortage of the flavored alcoholic beverages, and seriously, we just can’t have anything nice.

No doubt, White Claws are having A Moment. Everyone from your mom to your neighbor to your friends from college can’t stop talking about their White Claw summer and what flavor they love most (say lime or we can’t be friends). It’s 2019 and this country is officially operating under Claw Law.

Which is probably why the newly-iconic beverage is now running out nationwide — it’s a victim of its own weirdly viral popularity.

“We are working around the clock to increase supply given the rapid growth in consumer demand,” Sanjiv Gajiwala, White Claw’s senior vice president of marketing, told CNN Business. “White Claw has accelerated faster than anyone could have predicted.”

You better work. My fun at the pool kind of depends on this. Also? Plenty of us could’ve predicted this. White Claw is queen in my suburban area and has been for quite some time, so where has the rest of the world been? Sleeping on the magnificence of the Claw, apparently.

Gajiwala says the company is “allocating product to our distributor partners to keep all markets in stock the best we can and will continue to do so until we get back to our normal safety stock position.” Until then, we’ll just be stocking up in case this emergency takes some time to correct itself.

CNN Business reports that sales of the Claw shot up 283 percent to $327.7 million in July 2019 compared to the same time last year. What’s more, White Claw sales account for close to 55 percent of all hard seltzer sales during the 4th of July holiday week. That’s up 200 percent since last year’s July 4th sales. Basically, America wants their Claw, y’all.

The beverage’s popularity was likely helped along by the hilarious memes and viral social posts all about Claw Life. This summer, we were blessed with the phrase, “ain’t no laws when you’re drinking Claws” thanks to comedian Trevor Wallace’s viral video.

Of course, White Claw isn’t the only hard seltzer showing up in coolers at every neighborhood BBQ this summer. Truly and Bon & Viv are also gaining in popularity, and will probably become even more present in your fridge if White Claw can’t bring inventory back to stable levels.

So, stock up on Claw if you can. Or be like me and invest in a Yeti tumbler so you can blend a little vodka and LaCroix for your afternoon at the beach. During tough times, we must be resourceful.
