Despite everything Britney Spears has been put through, paparazzi continue to harass her. When will it stop?

Britney Spear is going through it. Late last year, the New York Times released Framing Britney Spears, a documentary that showed how relentless harassment from paparazzi and other media drove the pop star to her infamous public breakdown. Last week, she appeared before a Los Angeles judge and gave a heartwrenching speech about the ensuing 13 years under an abusive conservatorship that has stripped her of rights to her own money and freedom. Now, Brit is on a well-deserved vacation in Maui, and just had to post on her Instagram with a message to the paparazzi there who won’t leave her alone. Seriously, have these vultures not put the poor woman through enough? This is absolutely out of hand.

Britney shared a video to Instagram, writing, “So being here in Maui is pretty crazy now … the paps know where I am and it’s really not fun! It’s pretty hard going anywhere cause these silly faces keep popping up to take my picture.”

Along with the post, she included a video with some helpful “Dos and Don’ts” for paparazzi. It’s really not hard. The “Don’ts” are things like, “Don’t talk to me while I’m texting,” and “Don’t edit my body in photos until it’s unrecognizable.” You’d think these would be reasonable requests, but, you know, this is the paparazzi we’re talking about. If they haven’t learned to respect Britney and her space by now, there is literally no hope for them.

In her caption, Britney continued, “but not only do they take my picture … they distort my body and mess with the image and it’s embarrassing! I know my body is not perfect but I definitely do NOT look like how they portray me. It’s rude and it’s mean so paps kindly FUCK YOU AND FUCK OFF.”

OK, first of all, Britney’s body is perfect. Come on. All of her is perfect. She is a queen. But the more important message here is that paparazzi and the media are still harassing this woman without end. We’ve all seen what she’s been through. When will the paparazzi draw the line? When will they decide their torture has gone too far and it’s time to let this poor woman just live her life in peace?

I doubt any paparazzi will read this, but on the off chance: Just know that Britney’s family is facing a lot of backlash and blame, but you are also the problem. In the words of the iconic Chris Crocker, leave Britney alone.
