Dad has epic text exchange with mom on her first day back to work

If you’re a slightly worried mom, you may be able to relate to how incredibly frustrating this text exchange between a mother on her first day back to work, and the husband who’s home caring for their baby is. Hilarious, yes. But frustrating.

“Tough week. Charlie’s mum’s maternity leave ended,” writes Matt Coyne, dad behind the blog Man vs. Baby. “So the person in our house who prevents fires etc. returned to work. Whilst I found myself looking after our little boy properly on my own. It’s true to say that as Lyns walked out the door that first morning there was quite a few tears, sobbing, and protest-soiling… but, in my defence, by lunchtime I had calmed down a bit.”

He’s clearly hilarious. I’m sure his wife knows this. I’m also sure she wants a picture of her damn baby on her first day back to work! “To alleviate Lyns’ concerns about leaving Charlie in the care of a f*ckwit, I promised to keep in touch,” he writes.

Here’s what happened next:

Poor mom. All she wants is a picture of her son, dammit. And dad has to be funny. We’ve all been here, haven’t we? Not to the strip club, to the place of total frustration.

I work from home predominantly, but on the days that I travel into the city, I’m always amazed at how slowly my husband responds to my texts checking in. Of course I know everything is okay, but I regularly have to get to the point where I’m texting “ARE MY BABIES OKAY. WTF, DUDE? WHY CAN’T YOU JUST ANSWER A TEXT?” Clearly I could just chill out and realize everyone’s fine, but that’s not how this works. That’s not how any of this works. Moms are hard-wired to worry. And clearly dads are hard-wired to push buttons.
