You Can — And Should — Be A Giant Box Of Franzia For Halloween

There’s no shame in this Halloween game

Halloween may look a little different this year but that doesn’t mean you have to lower your costume game. In fact, this year seems like the perfect time to pay homage to what’s gotten many of us through this pandemic: wine.

Franzia, America’s top-selling boxed wine, dropped some seriously hilarious Halloween costumes just in time for spooky season. “Halloween is about to be extra chill this year,” the company said on its website. “So, why not BE Chillable Red. Sometimes when you love Franzia so much you BECOME Franzia.”

Whether you’re planning a socially distant outdoor gathering or meeting up with friends via Zoom virtually, arriving as a box of Franzia is sure to put a smile on the faces of everyone who sees you.

If red isn’t your color, don’t fret. The costume also comes in Franzia Sunset Blush, so you can rock a pinkish vibe for All Hallows’ Eve.

Franzia’s Halloween costume sells for $25 and is the perfect outfit to crush some candy in. No tight-fitting costumes this year; 2020 is the year to let it all hang out, and wearing a large box over ourselves seems a fitting way to celebrate.

The CDC recently stated that traditional door-to-door trick-or-treating is being considered a high risk activity this year because of the coronavirus pandemic. This includes wearing costume masks (unless it is made of “two or more layers of breathable fabric that covers your mouth and nose and doesn’t leave gaps around your face”) and attending or hosting Halloween celebrations. Hey, most of us have gotten pretty good at throwing ourselves parties that include only our immediate family, Halloween should be no exception.

If you want to really step up the costume, might I suggest slapping a 5L (that’s 6.7 bottles) box in a Franzia boxed wine backpack? You can transform every part of your being into boxed wine and I honestly can’t think of anything I’d rather do at this point.

“There is a special kind of friendship formed around a box of Franzia that turns friends into ‘Franz,'” Jeff Dubiel, chief marketing officer at Franzia’s parent company, The Wine Group, said in an announcement introducing a new line of Franzia-inspired merch. “Our goal is to connect with these consumers throughout all of life’s friendship moments by continually offering new ways to interact with the brand. With our line of merchandise, we are giving our biggest ‘Franz’ fun new options for sharing how they are Franzia ‘Franz for Life.'”

You can shop all their merchandise on their website.

If $25 seems like a lot to drop on a costume not many will see this year, I think we can take our own liberties at this point. Wear this puppy to Target during your next grocery run. Walk the dogs in it. It’s 2020. I don’t think anyone will bat an eye.
