Why The ALS Challenge Is So Perfect For Parents
It’s a wonderful thing when social media is used for good, like in the case of the ALS challenge. The challenge, if you’ve been living under a rock, asks people to dump cold water on their heads to spread awareness of ALS. They then nominate their friends to do the same. If nominees don’t accept the challenge, they’re asked to donate money instead.
The ALS Association has received $5.5 million for Lou Gehrig’s disease research since July 29, compared to $32,000 in the same period last year because of the challenge. It’s phenomenal. Seeing people give generously and/or spread the word on a disease that normally gets little attention? Amazing. People all across the word joining in? Absolutely inspiring. And for parents, especially, it’s kind of the best thing ever…
