Just A Few Reasons Why We Still Love "Golden Girls" After All These Years

I’ve been a fan of the “Golden Girls” since, well, forever. Growing up, I watched the show every weekend, usually with my grandma. She was, without a doubt, a Sophia — feisty, outspoken, and unwilling to take any shit from anyone. Still to this day, just a few minutes with The Girls and I’m feeling all warm and fuzzy with nostalgia, and inspired AF by the badassery that is a group of fierce female friends.

There are several reasons that Golden Girls have withstood the test of time. In fact, in many ways, they were ahead of their time and they truly are the epitome of #squadgoals. Here are just a few of the reasons why these ladies are so kick ass.

No one knew how to throw shade like Dorothy…

Because she is not here for your bullshit…

They preached the importance of safe sex…

And proved that you’re never too old to be sexy AF…

Or confident as hell…

And you should never be afraid to strut your stuff…

Or throw in a little shimmy.

They know that life sometimes sucks lemons and there’s no sugar-coating it…

But most problems can be solved with some laughter.

And when all else fails, there’s always girl time and cheesecake…

Group hugs…

And Sicilian curses.

They showed us how to put our game face on and handle it.

When life gets too overwhelming and you’re sick of people, just throw on some headphones and block that shit out.

Or call in your friends for reinforcements.

For more than 30 years, we’ve been loving on the Golden Girls and, thanks to cable network syndication, we might be able to hang out with them for another 30 more.
