Britney Spears’ boyfriend Sam Asghari breaks silence, calls Jamie Spears a ‘total dick’

Ever since Hulu dropped the “Framing Britney Spears” documentary, the world has become much more sympathetic to and educated about Britney Spears’ legal woes amid her fight to free herself from her father Jamie Spears’ conservatorship. Though typically tight-lipped when it comes to her legal drama, Spears’ longterm boyfriend Sam Asghari has had enough and just came out, calling his girlfriend’s father “a total dick.”

But first, some backstory. If you haven’t seen the documentary yet, essentially Jamie Spears took control of Britney’s finances back in 2008 when she was battling a mental health crisis and was surrounded by opportunists like Adnan Ghalib. As described in the documentary, a conservatorship is an arrangement put in place when an individual is incapacitated or at risk of being defrauded out of their money. Now almost 13 years later, Britney is still under her father’s conservatorship despite being a functioning adult woman, very recently capable of performing nightly at a sold-out Vegas review while being a mom to her two boys. In 2020, her father petitioned to change the conservatorship to a “hybrid business model,” which the talking heads in the documentary allege is a sign that Jamie’s refusal to relinquish control of his daughter’s life and estate is because he makes so much money off her.

Now that the documentary has shown us what kind of person Jamie Spears is, Asghari is speaking out.

“I think he’s a dick,” Asghari told TMZ. “Once he starts treating his daughter right, then we can be on good terms.”

“Now it’s important for people to understand that I have zero respect for someone trying to control our relationship and constantly throwing obstacles our way,” Asghari added on Instagram. “In my opinion Jamie is a total dick. I won’t be going into details because I’ve always respected our privacy but at the same time I didn’t come to this country to not be able to express my opinion and freedom.”

Asghari also told People, “I am thankful for all of the love and support [Britney] is receiving from her fans all over the world, and I am looking forward to a normal, amazing future together.”

For her part, Britney has stayed relatively tight-lipped about the conservatorship and the new documentary about it, though Britney revealed in court documents over the summer that she is “afraid” of her father and the reason she cancelled her forthcoming Vegas review was because she refuses to perform ever again “as long as her father is in charge of her career.”

Everything about this saga is heartbreaking, but with the strength of the documentary and Asghari’s newfound boldness surrounding Brit’s dad, maybe, just maybe, we’ll have some good news about Brit to report soon. #FreeBritney
