The Man Who Took His Ailing Dog Swimming Has a New Puppy
John Unger’s love affair with his dog, Schoep, has to go down as one of the sweetest, most devoted ever.

He was my life,” Unger said of the dog he adopted from a shelter at a time when he was suffering depression. In 2013, Schoep died.
Like many dog owners, Unger wasn’t sure how long it would take him to love a dog again. But earlier this month, as reported by KARE11, a Minneapolis area television station, Unger visited a humane society near his Wisconsin home, where he found 1-year-old Bear.

They were “in love from the moment they said hello to each other,” says shelter employee Kim Molitor.
