This CBD Sleep Oil Is The Only Thing That's Helped Me Sleep During My Child's Millionth Sleep Regression

Sleepless nights? Tossing and turning? Coronasomnia? Difficulty falling and staying asleep is one of the trials and tribulations of parenthood (and, let’s face it, life in general), and we can all use a little help every once in a while. So when I got the opportunity to get my hands on Big Spoon, Sunday Scaries‘ new CBD-infused sleep oil, I jumped on the chance to try it. Now, it’s my new favorite sleep hack, and I’m here to tell you all about it — so grab a pillow and blanket, kids, ’cause here’s a bedtime story you won’t want to miss.

Here’s the funny thing: I’m a mom of a 16-month-old who’s going through what feels like his 243rd sleep regression, so the cause of most of my sleeplessness (as of late) has nothing to do with my own insomnia. As a matter of fact, I’ve always been a good sleeper, for the most part, going from wakefulness to snoring mere minutes after my head hits the pillow.

Okay, okay, I’m not here to brag, and I promise there’s a moral to this story. See, when your kid wakes you up from being dead asleep, defiantly screaming at the top of his lungs until you finally pick him up and rock him for 45 minutes — only to jolt awake the second you gingerly place him back in the crib — it can be difficult for us parents to fall back asleep, too. (Sorry, Ferber Method, if I let my kid “cry it out,” we’d be up half the night.)

After days and days of this sleep-wake pattern (and wondering, in vain, if it’ll ever end), the anticipation of that 2 am (and 3 am, and 4 am), wake-up call also begins to take its toll on the peacefulness of my slumber. But after using Big Spoon for the past few nights, not only have I felt calmer as I first climb into bed and close my eyes, I’ve had an easier time falling back to sleep after my son *inevitably* wakes up.

I’ve tried tons of CBD products (tinctures, teas, gummies, creams, bath bombs — you name it), and with so many options out there, a product has to really be different to stand out from the rest. Sunday Scaries’ Big Spoon sleep oil fits the bill, and for a couple of reasons. Initially, I noticed the taste; lots of CBD products have an unpleasant, bitter aftertaste, but this stuff has notes of herbs and vanilla that are smooth with no unpleasant finish. But most of all, I was impressed with how this oil actually works.

While any decent CBD product will promote a sense of calm during the day or night, Big Spoon is made with a cocktail of sleep-inducing ingredients, including chamomile, L-theanine, valerian root, lemon balm. Most notably, it also contains CBN, another substance found in the hemp plant that’s known for nudging you into dreamland. (This means that Big Spoon may contain a trace amount of THC, but not enough to produce hallucinogenic effects.) I also want to point out that while Big Spoon makes me pleasantly drowsy, it doesn’t knock me into a stupor, so I know I’ll wake up when my son needs me.

Finally, it only takes a small amount of Big Spoon — half a dropperful, to be exact — to feel the benefits, even if you’re a CBD connoisseur like me. (You can put it directly under your tongue or stir some into a cup of tea for an extra soothing bedtime ritual.) That means this stuff will last, and that’s a good thing because you’ll always want a supply on your bedside table.

So if those melatonin supplements and cups of chamomile simply aren’t cutting it, give Big Spoon a go and feel the warm, cozy comfort of snuggling up as the little spoon. Now, go forth and slumber! Ahhhhh.
