2020 shed light on a lot of injustices in the country, but it was also the year that Black voices, businesses, and brands were amplified more than ever. As we settle into the new year, it’s important to continue supporting the Black community and the amazing talents within it.
Although February is Black History Month, Black-owned businesses and brands should be incorporated into things we do and use on a daily basis. Whether that’s going to your local coffee shop or using your favorite face mask, Black-owned companies are everywhere! Ahead are some of our favorite products from Black-owned businesses. Many of them offer subscription services too — so make sure you keep going back!
Black-Owned Beauty Brands
Ornami is a Black woman-owned skincare and beauty company that is all about living your best life and treating yourself like the queen you are. The No Scrubs’ EX-Foliator Sugar Scrub is perfect for anyone that’s obsessed with trying new beauty regiments or needs a little extra push to get started. If the clever pun in the name doesn’t do the trick, the vanilla and lavender scent definitely will. It will work wonders on your skin and help scrub away that toxicity of 2020.
The Glory SkincareBox is designed for both the beauty expert and beginner. What’s awesome about this subscription box is that you can decide what’s included based on your personal skin needs and concerns (so it’s not an everyone-gets the-same-thing type of deal, and we love it.) Everyone’s skin and skin concerns are different, and Glory knows that. You’ve got your choice between the Essentials, Inaugural, and Premium box. Each including a cleanser, exfoliant, and moisturizer and adding in additional products based on which box you choose.
Founder and CEO, Alisia Ford made sure that every product included is cruelty-free and non-toxic, making luxury skincare accessible to everyone. Oh — and their Eucalyptus & Mint scented candle is must-have for a success self-care Sunday.

This one definitely wins the innovative beauty award and we oddly love it. This jelly-like sheet comes in the shape of giant lips that you put on to moisturize, smooth, and hydrate your lips. The all-natural ingredients include collagen, rose flower oil, Vitamin E, and bitter cherry extract.
“I love these masks! I try to never be without them. My lips are constantly dry, and these are so soothing and really moisturize my lips,” said one Mama on Sephora.com. “I first exfoliate then use these. I leave them on as long as I can. My 10-year-old daughter loves to use these with me, so we have a whole ritual of exfoliating our lips first, then applying these. We love them.”
The secret ingredient to clear and smooth skin is activated charcoal. Sade Baron has a face and body soap bar made with the ingredient, along with coconut oil and shea butter. “AMAZING product,” said one happy customer. “It keeps my skin smooth and moisturized. Also, the bar is really big compared to other places I have gotten charcoal soap from so it’s a really good investment. I’m never going to switch back. I am so satisfied.”
Black-Owned Hair Care Brands

Don’t worry, they’re also available in full size and individually sold too.
Take it from the experts themselves. One pro reviewed, “As a hairstylist, recommend this product to anyone who wants to restore and maintain moisture and hydrated hair,” she said. “I love this product because it’s super hydrating after I color my hair. Go out and get yourself this product and I guarantee you will not use another product line after Pattern!”
